New consoles/E3 2013 thread

I always thought SotN's voice acting was hastily recorded in a bathroom...

 

why trust sony~? they have been pressing down hard on second hand game sales since ps1 was first released. they have sued (now defunct) 2nd hand game shops like electronics boutique. you can read old nintendo interviews from 1995/1996 where mr miyamoto talked about games being downloaded over high bandwidth lines and games being rented out to players rather than the players owning them for themselves. these big companies are all in it for the maximum amount of money. the games/movie/music industry is going to try and move in this direction.

 

people see a moral victory for sony over microsoft, but i think the hype for sony is misguided. a company such as sony will have a 10 year/20 year/30 year business plan. microsoft has been honest about what it's going to do. sony is deceiving people, because it must know where the industry is headed in the next 10 years but is lying about its true aims for a temporary PR gain. if sony wins the PR war and sells more playstations than xboxes and becomes the industry leader, it can then go about carrying on with restricting second hand game sales etc as it has been doing for the last 20 years. not that im a fanboy of any of these companies. it's just sad to see a mob of game fans be conned by PR lies and promises that cant be kept. gamers rule, accountants drool. heh.

huh? eb games still has about 35,000 employees and over 2000 stores..?

 

It's not defunct even by a long shot. Electronics Boutique was just rebranded to EB games for aesthetic purposes.

 

Not to mention... I hardly qualify offering older games for a discounted price on the PSN "restricting the sale of used games"?

The way everything is presented was so fucking corporate and at the same time, it felt like they were trying to appeal to a bunch pof seven year olds, I hate it when developers use the word "badass" to describe features of their own game... What's with the games anyway, Call of Duty version 7301... WORLD OF TANKS? I was surprised there as no next-gen Deer Hunting Simulator on display ...Who even has the X-Box in the first place, I don't know a single person who owns one of any generation.

yeah i think the picture is made quite clear. the only thing that is of any interest to humanity is whether ps4 monopoly in the next gen good for pc-gaming

Like I said, they have over 2000 stores still branded as EB games and over 35,000 employees.

 

Edit: I know they're the same company btw. I just mean that when I go shopping it says EB games on the sign not gamestop. Internationally gamestop still operates as EB games. Hope I'm making sense.

Yeah it's all semantics, didn't see your location before I blew my mouth off.

 

I have to say the kid in me is interested in Disney Infinity, I haven't played a platformer since PS2 days, but this looks refreshing, even if its derivative of Skylanders. The toy box idea is cool, and you can share user created levels across ALL gaming platforms. Like Little Big Planet, but not Sony exclusive. It even has cloud saves for user created content, which like I said can be used by any player, regardless of which console they're on. 2 player local co-op, 4 player online, this could be huge for holiday 2013, and Amazon is already throwing in about $20 of freebies with every preorder.

 

My nephew is already bugging me to play with him online.

Not quite... you must have a PSN+ membership in order to do multiplayer on PS4 - it was just a matter of time before Sony started charging like MS does - they just went about it in a better way with offering freebies, discounts, etc. at first, so you get used to it, then spring the "pay to play" on you.
