dont really care for the vid, and i dont know or care much how i felt about the other vids, even if i think they are in some way making similar statements to the music itself.

also dont really get the 'new parameters' comment ae made. it's different while still in some ways similar to other things like ae, so it's not like it reinvented music. it's almost like pushing it further towards non-music, more like a reduction of parameters to me. i think i'll like the album in the future, but i think by its design it's kind of a superficial thing that i'll never really find mountains of depth in like with an ae record. it's fresh but part of that is because of its blatant, mocking, shallowness. maybe it's almost like a punk version of ae. stripped down, raw, not an exposition of tons of refined techniques but instead just 'heres some barebones sequences of patterns/sounds to assault you with, because you live in the facebook, youtube future so that's all you need anyway is superficial entertainment right?' least that's my take on it, and the vids seem to match it.

I think the impetus behind these videos is taking familiar elements of web culture & shoving them back at people, making us acknowledge just how weird our day to day techy consumer environment is.

(excerpt) was the most immediately abstract, but also the most "idm music video" of the bunch. Like, I could totally picture AE using that crazy 3d water claw thing.

Then "Problem Areas" comes along, and it's this suuuuuper neutral depiction of things the average 20something OPN listener might have had lying around their room at some point (well maybe not the claw trumpet, but ya get mah drift?). It goes past familiarity, and into an uncanny valley sorta realm, without being explicit

Then of course (Betamale) hammers us with all of this uncomfortable shock imagery that most of us are at least vaguely familiar with (furries, weird fetishes, diseased computer keyboards). Really driving home some point about how the net allows people to live out these private fantasy lives that become so far removed from conventional reality

And now, this newest video seems to be going in the opposite direction - taking what could have been some tragic story & depicting it in the the most generic, dispassionate format available. I'm sure there's something to be said here about depersonalization & the false individuality of social media, but I gotta go tah bed so I can go work at my video game job tomorrow

A lot is happening with this release for sure. OPN got most of his note from the sunsetcorp videos. I think his work will always have a visual element.

I was showing my girlfriend the PointNever.com website, which had that crazy video/animation stuff i saw on it a few weeks ago, but now is replaced by the "Boring Angel" video, which I've never seen/heard before tonight. and..

That was the absolute most gorgeous piece of art i've ever seen/heard in, i cant remember how long.

fuck men. i played the video for my girlfriend like 5 timers now, posted in on fb, and now i cant even sleep.

this might be pretentious as fuck, and was probably already said on pages 10, 17, 22, and 47, but this peice of lopatin art, imo, completely encapsulates one particular perspective of the entire human experience in a nutshell, from birth to death and everything in between in sequence.

my gf is now in my bed, alone, as i continue to sit at my computer just feet away from her, romanticizing this music/art and think deeply about it, reflect on it and circle jerk over it with my fellow watmmers.

my gf was blown away.. i also showed her eccojams- castle in the sky and too little too late... which might i say go very well with the $6 bottle of Barefoot Chardonnay- California i bought at 7 Eleven last week.

Okay, welp, now that i totally ignorantly threadraped this forum, i think ill go to sleep with none' but lopatin dreams.

P.S. this post was absolutely serious.. i will wothout a doubt check out more of oneoh's music asap. Thank you guys for posting about amazing music.

I'd just like to add my intention to represent LV in WATMM court. His mysterious behind-the-scenes contributions to Vaporwave are paramount to the scene's progression, so it is in everyone's best interests that he be permitted to continue his important work, regardless of booze-fuelled OPN-driven forum faux pas.
