I think everyone need to be a little less self serving and respect the wishes of the artist. Their work is the reason we're here, no?

Absolutely. From my point of view, I feel that ae get more respect from watmm members than any other "featured" artist.

Possibly down to high work rate and constant high quality releases coupled with the occasional rapport . and in-jokes.. whats not to respect?

I agree. But that doesn't mean they don't make mistakes sometimes.

Quaristice wasn't that bad

I'm not talking about Quaristice, which is a great album. I'm talking about a certain EP.

Yaah, I actually love Quaristice. And Quadrange. And versions.

Which EP are you talking about then? I can't think of one that's a "mistake"?

He's talking about L-Event, he's already decided he hates it from the samples.

Good lord.

Not really, not that I hate it, I just say that if the whole tracks sound all the time like the previews, which surely do because ae doesn't tend to change drastically the same song, I won't like it much because they're trying to explode the Exai resources at the maximum and I think they're forcing the machine too much. I think they're not innovating anymore, the previews sound like a bunch of chaotic Exai leftovers (which in one way it's logical cause it's from the same sessions); but, i don't know, they don't show the same "elegance" which Exai tracks have.

seems pretty ridiculous to not allow us to post links to stores that put up samples (allowed by Warp or not).

Well, we don't allow links to sites who host pirated music either - same difference - the label and AE did not want previews to be put up for good reason, mostly to be in control of the quality of them (especially true considering the shitty samples that were put up). There is a method to their madness.

I'm excited because the previews sounded a lot more processed and 'mushy' (almost to a Confield level; though that might be a false memory from the single listen I gave them). I'm not a big fan of the more dry sound they've been using on their percussion since Untilted.

Also, Exai leftovers would be great anyway. I'm always interested in hearing their leftovers/unfinished tracks because they're often fucking excellent, imo!

Shitty samples? They didn't sound too bad to me. Besides, Bleep's samples aren't exactly FLAC quality.

If the guy who co-made the fucking music says they sound bad - it's a pretty safe bet they sound bad compared to how they should sound.

@joyrex

so have you got an advance listen to the new EP? Is it similar on sound texture to Exai or a big jump in musical approach?

It's some meaty, complex stuff - in other words, what AE is best at. Hard to say if it's a big jump... more an evolution or continuation in some respects. I haven't settled on a favourite track (yet).

I can see why Sean wouldn't want low quality samples out there - there is a lot to these tracks (little fine details) you probably miss or just sound like noise at lower bitrates.
