Mr. Richard, if you're still writing songs, give us some kind of sign so we can leave you alone until we can turn the hype machine back on one more time. I'm thinking some sort of scandal would be good to get the word out, but we don't want to brainstorm on that until we're sure you're just out of the the wrap-up phase on your part of the production.

brostep is more in your face and heavy-metalish though right?

Brostep is pretty hardcore. I can't think of a single musician capable of making something as complex as Bangarang was.

Please don't get into the dubstep/brostep argument, I've seen this shit going on since 2009. Brostep is a derogatory term for overly hyped mid-range chainsaw sounding dubstep, basically anything skrillex ever did, apart from some of his old electro house tracks that used to be on his myspace (slats slats slats). Basically dubstep it's not even that defined, classic dubstep would be 2006 era Skream, Big Apple Records, DMZ, etc, even Burial can be considered dubstep, or at least was at the time before people came up with stupid terms like future-garage. Brostep was born around 2007 imo, tunes like Coki's Spongebob or Rusko's Jahova incremented a larger use of "gritty" sounds, the drum patterns started to get really simple and all that counted was how hyped the track was, it was still enjoyable until dudebros from all around the world started hopping on the scary monster and nice sprites bandwagon, ripping off skrillex. Dubstep basically have to be around 140, have a lot of sub and be good, brostep's aim is to please teenagers in their hormone-filled age.

If your tune sounds like a bunch of power tools at a Home Depot – that’s not bass, that’s not sub, therefore, it’s not dubstep!

ok thanks for letting us know!

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

Brostep doesn't exist, it's a word people use who can't accept club friendly/massive dubstep with a lot of energy

there's plenty of sub in "brostep", there's just more straight forward energy going on than the wanky sinewave sub and bongo tracks of old. there's a lot of complexity and innovation for people who care to explore around.. it's more similar to the evolution of neuro in drum n bass than any other genre, with a tremendous focus on tight production

when people talk condescendingly about power tools or chainsaw sounds i think about "filthstep" which usually samples actual power tools in an attempt to be too edgy 4 u.. it's pretty heavy metalish but usually very shitty and dull

When people talk condescendingly about power tools or chainsaw sounds i think about " --- filthstep --- " (damn you guys make up genres so fast, but I must admit I heard that one already along with: "chillstep", "deathstep", "skullstep", "cuntstep")

I also don't know who Joe Nice is, prolly a guy who are not into dubstep the same as me

At least your tracks are good chim
