saw it a couple of days ago. Basically a carbon copy of star wars to kick off the next films, LOVED IT! Apart from snookle, he looked far too harry potter, I hope that he's small and not cgi when we actually meet him.

Trying to ignore my wife making far too many potter links though. Damn Disney and their 3 story lines.

Saw the movie but the magic was lost on me. The new characters were very good and it was awesome seeing the old actors return in their roles after all these years, but everything else was identical to the original Star Wars that I was disappointed. The plot was exactly the same! For all the eye candy thrown at me the movie had next to no creativity or originality. It panders so hard to the cohort that grew up with Star Wars to the point that it doesn't even hide it.

Felt like the entire thing was made as a 2 hour commercial for new Star Wars toys. Capitalism Ho!

stop it Rubin!

you're stinking up the place.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

i just watched it today and my friend was pretty annoyed at the whole "remaking episode 4" thing... i thought it was a decent enough film, like the new characters, the new droid and had some cool scenes*shrug*, it will be interesting to see what the creative minds do next.

Pretty much just one storyline

Interestingly I think I read somewhere that Lucas specifically used that concept when he came up with the original 3 fillums

saw it a second time and kind of hated it :3

hated is a harsh word. it's definitely a solid, enjoyable film with fun new characters, fun adventure, back to the roots style "fun". so if people enjoy it, this isn't gonna some argument trying to sway you into hating it : >

it just, definitely felt like i was watching a kiddy disney movie this time around. the general tone of the film just came across much lighter watching it a second time knowing which beats the story was going to take. the sets struck me as all being really clean and everything about it just kind of felt like a fun rompy kids show with star wars aesthetic washed over. reminded me of watching Clone wars tv series on telly and thinking "man this is pretty wicked". its got a fun tone. its got cool characters. anakin and obiwan seem more fleshed out + have a bit more of personality "spark" to them. but ... it feels like a kids show, and one that i can't see myself sitting down and actually watching.

star wars 7 feels ... kind of identical. remove han solo + chewbacca and all the other callbacks and you've got this fun flashy disney kids film set in space with space adventures. awesome! but ... maybe not for me.

it almost seems like they had a straight up g-rated kids film thru and thru. so they put in the "starkiller" scene and bits of blood here and there to keep it M-rated 15+ (in australia at least) to keep the hardcore fans happy and thinking it's BADASS. but really, it's still totally.... at the end of the day ...

It sounds like TFA Visual Disctuonary should have been included with our movie tickets, as it explains a lot of info not deemed important enough for the script, like say backstories, an organization known as the "Church of the Force" on Jakku, and other tidbits:

I also finally finished Clone Wars Season 6, and it ended with a trippy trilogy featuring Yoda thinking he is losing his mind because he can hear Qui Gon Jinn speaking to him from the afterlife. They basically go into a long winded explanation of these Force Ghosts growing Midichlorians (yes!) on a planet, and the structure of The Force; it has two components: the Living Force (which Qui Gon subscribed to), making him impulsive and at odds with the Jedi Council. This feeds the Cosmic Force, which is the energy field created by beings with Force sensitivity, and a more reserved school of Jedi like Yoda follow this interpretation. Basically, Yoda goes on a scavenger hunt to learn what has happened to Qui Gon's spirit and in turn earns the right to learn the secret of retaining his identity after death, which we see him inform Obi Wan of in Episode III. A pretty good ending to Clone Wars, and much better than the ending of Season 5.

Still haven't seen it. Dunno if I need to see it in the theater.

lol.

first screening i got was in tiny, late night cinema, in an attempt to avoiding the talking/wooping/kids galore crowds. managed to be sitting in a near empty row of seats with 2 talking girls to the left of me rustling around with bags and plastic noises the whole time.

thought, fuckit. i wanna watch it again. this time, decided to go full IMMERSIVE and see it at the imax. managed to score tickets right next to a kid who was rolling around in seat, waving toy lightsaber around and openly talking throughout whole film and engaging in conversation with his dad who was agreeing and talking about / encouraging him to talk / etc.etc.

+ the 3D looks shit. during the cgi scenes / space shots / ships flying scenes, it looks pretty great and difficult to fault. but when it's shots with people forefront and center it just looks so bad. you can actually look at the persons outline and see the botch job of transferring the 2D image into 3D. AVOID 3D !!!

if you can hold out from seeing it at cinema = good move. !!!
