lol, yeah I guess you're right. I mean I try to distinguish the two worlds from each other as often as I can, but these days they are harder to separate.

That is when conspiracy theories really become fun.

heh, or scary. To me it sounds like he's been digesting this sort of stuff for a while, and I think its downright ballsy to come right and say that you 'absolutely' think 9/11 was an inside job. It's practically a guaranteed way to make you a laughing stock here in the states. Any celebrity short of maybe Ed Asner and Robert Orci has been quasi blacklisted because of holding similar views.

yeah, pretty scary. stay off drugs kids

I prefer Aphex's approach, stay off believing in only boring things

Boring is irrelevant, more like "blatantly false'.

you think Bush told us the truth about 9/11? I wouldn't actually say at this point that he did 9/11 or anything like that, but it's very implausible that the attacks could have taken place without inside help. The other stuff is more of the folklore variety.

it's pretty wild to me that so many people rightfully think Bush was a pathological liar and a criminal (allowed torture, illegal wiretapping, outing secret CIA agents for revenge) but for some reason tend to give him the benefit of the doubt about 9/11. In time that blind spot will be lifted I think, once all the uninformed assholes stop ridiculing people who think we were lied to about 9/11. In time the truth will win out. The redacted 28 pages of the 9/11 congressional inquiry implicating Saudi Arabia in the attacks is just the tip of the iceberg.

Yeah , I'm saying the official story for 9/11 is blatantly false. Anyone who believes it is a fucking retard.

My heart sank a little when I read that truther crap, I must admit. If it turns out any of the Russian snippets on Syro translate to "free fall velocities," I may just have to put my unopened Bleep packet through the wood chipper.

i dont think he's got any clue about sci fi literature if he thinks these samey fringe topics are more exciting.

you can call anyone who doesn't buy into a 'fucking retard' all you want, but i'd counter by saying that anyone who DOES buy into it, or at least claims to, and votes for H 2016, is a 'complete hypocrite asshole' (and that probably describes MOST of the people who claim to believe 9/11 was an inside job and can vote):

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

but being complete hypocrites won't stop them from voting for her, will it? because those people either truly are too 'retarded' to understand that that quote would have to fully implicate her as involved in 'the plot', or they are just dishonest to a point where they think any tactic of smearing 'the other side' to 'win' is valid, as long as it gets what you want accomplished. so maybe the reason so many view the 9/11 conspiracy theorists as wackos who deserve ridicule is because of their blatant hypocrisy, and the fact that its entirely a political 'theory' they push for political purposes?

haha yeah, bigtime. he might as well have said 'i think the history channel's numberous programs about nostradamus/aliens/sasquatches/illuminati and all of the internet forum posts/youtube videos that are 'inspired' by that channel's programing, are more interesting than william gibson's sprawl trilogy, dune, the alien/aliens films, etc, because those are all 'just stories'. but for me it just makes him saying that questionable

I think the conspiracy stuff is used by him to keep the discussion going as he is very much aware how controversial the topic is.

This is all irrelevant, it is mindlessly changing the subject to the "hypocrisy" of all 9/11 truthers. There's nothing political about pointing out that a synchronized fall of the buildings is statistically impossible without the supports being removed simultaneously, or that the dozens of air force drills on the same day which match the attacks are also incredibly improbable unless they're used to cause the attacks, or that the hole in the pentagon was too small for a commercial plane. These are just facts which must convince any honest person.

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

no its not irrelevant at all, because the prime focus of those theories is always on bush/cheney having been behind the attacks, or having allowed them, so they could go into iraq to get more money/oil or whatever. and every time you see someone talking 9/11 inside job theories, they always conveniently leave out any dems or the fact of them having supported going into iraq. or they just pathetically try to defend the democratic support for that invasion by saying bush somehow 'fooled' all of the dems who went along with it, which is just completely asinine (and contradicted by several of those quotes).

why is anyone with half a brain supposed to give these theories actual consideration when they so clearly have political motivations? why don't any of the pretty damning quotes on that snopes page get the names of the people who said them brought into the theory? considering how conspiracy theorists work, if we could erase the context of republican vs democrat from the scenario, the things those democrats said should easily put them in 'the plot'. because why would they ignore such juicy details as those quotes and instead only always focus on bush/cheney/republicans, with a squiggly line just magically, and not coincidentally drawn between them and any democrats. the theorists just left out what should have been key players, handed to them on a silver platter by their own words, and i'm not supposed to be believe that the whole thing was politically motivated? do you doubt my assertion that most of the 'believers' will vote D in 16? no connection? right.

Conspiracy stuff was so-so as it was already in other interviews. The most memorable part of this interview was the talk of sigils and the AFX logo. I thought that was cute. I was just thinking like Pinocchio and "When You Wish Upon A Star". Make your dreams into a magical symbol, and they will come true.

on a completely unrelated note, even you might get something of value out of the most recent podcast I put together called 'Clinton's war on terror'. It's basically trying to defeat the myth that Iraq and post 9/11 US government shifts are all Bush's fault, when the gears were already put into motion by Bill Clinton, especially the groundwork for the pretext of Iraq's wmds.

that stuff heavily reminded me of this (fun idea for a drinking game- drink every time he says "it really works!" or some variation of that, see if you don't die of alcohol poisoning):

edit, re Joseph writing about outright falsehoods rather than boringadingness.

Yes the made up bullshit you see on the news can often be blatantly false. The sad thing is when people who should know better by now given the number of times that they know that they've been lied to on innumerable issues, when these otherwise sensible human beings, vehemently defend the paperthin fantasy that is the mainstream (at least in the media) orthodoxy.

waek up, seriously, it's a matter of some urgency.

I'm not going to go into these conspiracy theories because I think they're crap.
