Wonder if warp will release some of lil aphex's stuff in the future.

They'll dress him up in black nike gear and slot him into the sporty goth core trainers, tracksuits and t-shirts lets reignite the youth interest in sports apparel marketing thing that's going on at the mome.

Wouldn't that make aphex a pageant mom?

I thought Steinvord might be mentioned, when asked about psynodeums, but yet again it was gently swerved

how has nobody asked this in an interview yet

They probably are clueless beyond the main Aphex Twin releases, if Caustic Window EP wasn't all over the big newspapers no interviewer would have asked.

Or maybe they do it just to save face in case they've mentioned it before as being Richard using an alternative nickname, and then Richard confirms it turns out it was really some random kid making great tunes, so they don't want to risk it. Imagine if reputable music critics got fooled by some kid into making them think it was a potential Richard/Tom release.

This reminds me there will not be an album release in Rephlex, so I wonder if he will ever come back with more great tunes (assuming this is in fact some kid and not Rephlex personeel.)

'There was some crazy dude on eBay selling these MIDI pipe organs for people to have in their living rooms. They sound fucking brutal! Soon as I turned it on, I played some Christmas carol, and it totally sounded like—fuck knows—some Ligeti piece.'

Hahaha, that sounds awesome. I'd love to hear these things.

Rolling Stone: How many kids do you have?

Aphex Twin: Two boys, eight and six. They make music, both of them. I don't know if you've ever heard of an artist called Mark Fell it's avant-garde techno, not danceable. Someone said [my son's music] sounds like a cross between that and Holly Herndon, who's another experimental electronic artist. That's really accurate, actually. He was five when he did it.

Steinvord & Syro in comparison to each other convince me more than ever that Steinvord is Richard alone. It's almost like they are 2 halves of an imaginary album he never put out Syro is the laid back hyper melodic catchy component whereas Steinvord has all the dark acid lines and chopped up breaksmithing.

You've never listened to Go Plastic or Ultravisitor have you?

no worries, Go Plastic is of my alltime favorites. Still stand by what I said though, after Syro I'm convinced that Aphex can channel squarepusher fairly effortlessly.

i think steinvord could be vibert + afx, i dont think its got squarepusher involved personally. i also think it could jjust be afxs laptop tunes. regardless we needed more questioned on this case. on a similar note i reckon this dude needs to come out of the closet or im calling this another afx project https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5eHTdZtkmMLwSdigo8otvA

"this channel does not exist" Looks like Richard was reading the thread and pulled the plug

there is only 1 track out of all the Steinvord stuff that doesn't sound like richard d james to me, possibly 2. The obvious one being the sort of Ultravisitor sounding one off the EP.

I remember reading in another forum this got somehow confirmed as an Steinvord alias

Yeah, it really just sounds like someone who was deeply influenced by drukqs and go plastic to me... with a few passages here and there that are admittedly quite convincing impersonations of either. It would be unfortunate for an artist with that much skill to go to such great lengths to imitate their influences. But it would also be disappointing if it ended up being such a high profile collab, as I'd like to think an AT/SP collab project would be a lot more exciting.

Holy fucking shit I still haven't heard Syro... are StephenG and me the only ones?

nothing ever gave me the feeling it was a collaboration, some of the tracks (less of them, well really only 2) sound like Squarepusher but the rest all sound like RDJ by himself to me. I'm really honestly surprised more Aphex fans haven't decided this is is richard d james yet. It sounds absolutely nothing like Jodey Kendrick to me, for starters he's never mixed his breakbeats with such Richard-esque beefiness
