Clark - Clark (Nov. 3rd 2014)

Okay the stream is up... proper 6 minute track.

To clarify: There will be a single with this track, called "Unfurla", and the Dettman and Pariah cuts before the self-titled LP drops.

My opinion after several listens: A bit of Turning Dragon feeling smashed with his "minimal" kind of remixes (Spur, Dulceria, ...). Pretty boring (and not so utterly compressed) drums, beautiful synth work. Something to loose yourself to not to freak out. My hopes are high for the LP, pretty sure there will be some devastating stuff on there.

Oh yeah, I remember that one from his shows. Definitely not the best of the tracks he played but still decent.

Unfurla was pretty good, I guess he's saving the big stuff for the album.

Some of the same drums and effects as Superscope.

Sorta disappointed he'd do a self titled album though...

Uhm... nope. At least not in my ears and mind.

I said "boring drums". A fat kickdrum with some off-beat rumbling here and there and some signature clark claps and screams... that is - in relation to Clark's other work - pretty boring.

Maybe read the "Crunchy Sound"-thread in the subforum - I clarified what I mean there recently. The bottom line: Clark is losing his magic for me since Totems Flare, using more and more obvious samples and signature sounds without developement or richness. That's what this track lacks of: Richness of ideas, playfullness. There are a lot of elements presented over the six minutes, but that makes a track decent or what?

Anyway, it's criticising on a very high level. And because I love this guy's music so much. Unfurla is actually growing on me, love the last bit getting emotional after 10+ listens.

Totems Flare was my favorite album of 2009. Therefore Iradelphic was a huge disappointment

I played it in the car and some weeks forward I caught her spinning the record by herself, she even knew the track names.

i def like this track but it sounds like it's a 12" single with a remix on it? not sure if it's on the album?

I'm wondering if the new album will have some sort of visual accompaniment /dvd type thing. Always anticipating new Clark, and after iradelphic didn't get as many plays as the rest of the discography (including EPs/singles) and getting the chance to catch phosphor live, I can NOT wait to get this in my ears. It may not be getting the hype of Spyro, but it may end up a more cohesive/fresh album since its newer material and not peiced together

I'm shocked he's doing a self titled but I couldn't me more excited. just as syro fatigue will be settling in, this monster is going to appear. I bet this album is a beast.
