I love the massive echoey noises that happen , before 19 mins and later on too in the eclipsis one it's like a huge evil clock signalling there's going to be carnage.

the new remaster is brilliant, thank you. their sound is so enthralling and brutal, you're instantly sucked into it! a million times harder with more punch than any live set you're gonna hear

Irritatingly, I don't seem to be able to access the site this new remaster is stored on (amni, on wetransfer) - there must be a block on my isp or something..

Anyhow, for anyone not yet dying of remaster fatigue, I don't know how this compares, but I've uploaded another version (aekrak-dsph-xyp) here:

Looking at the chain from other masters, I think I might have taken a different approach - my aim was to get a more even distribution in the spatial/stereo field and utilize expansion rather than compression to push the room acoustic back a little and accentuate transient edges.

As far as I'm concerned I like all of them. It's like listening to Autechre on iShit headphones, laptop, studio monitors, car stereo etc. I always come out hearing things I never noticed before and getting a different experience.

Cheers for this mix amni, it's a lot clearer to the others I've heard. But it's also very stereo-crazy, and very high-frequency heavy. Almost too much for me (at least listening to it on my Tannoy monitors).

Can anyone recommend one of the mixes that's not so harsh with the top end?

I think the key to making an ideal master would be to separate the 'tracks' with their own mastering chains but make them seamlessly transition into one another. Part of the reason the bass is not super boomy on the master Amni and I did is because at various points of the set the bass is just massively loud and muddy. Other parts of the set get very high end oriented and have totally different emphasized bass frequencies. I don't have to the time or energy to do this, but someone who does should give it a try.

this is really doing my head in, especially the 2nd half.

I'm sure ae and boc both understand that if they were ever to release soundboards of their live stuff it would be a huge hit and make a big pile of cash

here is what I came up with for each part that sounds like a new track





it would be awesome if we all combined forces and then voted on who's master is the best for each track and then have someone seamlessly link them all together. Some of these are much harder to do than others, especially track 1. The problem with trying this though is some people's mastering style or outcome might sound drastically different than someone else's. Anyone want to collaborate on this?

Totally what John said. The bass so so full on boomy and muddy at time. I started to do a third rereremaster but just decided I have a life :-)

If you guys arent happy with our remasterd why not go ask the Marvellous Music Machine to do a remaster for you. :-)

I think if we pulled this off successfully, combined with Brian Alber's Montreal set trickery it would be a pretty convincing case for why Warp and Autechre should properly release the best recordings they have of the last 3 unique live sets. The music is just so amazing it really deserves it

i think this is my new favourite live ae recording.

Wetransfer's accessible for me this morning so I grabbed Amni's version - sounds good, LOUD! lots of presence, nice low-mid voicing, bit of a reduction in dynamic impact but I reckon most people would prefer to hear it like that, to get the detail rather than the slam.. I think I'm a wierdo though, I much preferred the original 128K version of Glasgow Arts School over the 256K remastered version because it just sounded a lot more razor sharp and clinical - everyone else loved that 256K though!

Yeah, amni's remaster all the way. Glorious at loud volume on good headphones. 30:13-36:05 fucking space battles...

Also, the 128k Glasgow gets the nod.

Amni could I request a re-remaster of LA 2008 found HERE? It's recently been done by xox but after hearing your sterling work on the Krakow set I'd love to hear this one loudened and beefened up a little. I feel like you're up to the task and it would make me very happy! :)

If only there were words to do this evolution of their live set justice. "Dynamic" just doesn't capture it.

Also, I second Obel on the 2008 LA show, as that was my one and only Autechre attendance (unfortunately). I've yet to hear a polished incantation of that wicked intro segment of that tour.
