Dune

Saw Part Two this past weekend in IMAX, really blew me away! I definitely recommend checking it out on the biggest screen you can. The worm riding scene was top notch, and probably the loudest scene I've ever heard in a theatre.

Also, watched Lynch's Dune for the first time last night. It's...interesting. My biggest takeaway is that it just feels so rushed. I really appreciate now having 5.5 hours of Villeneuve's Dune to get the story across, rather than Lynch's two hours. I thought the Navigators in the 1984 version were pretty cool, but nearly everything else I prefer the new movies.

its really interesting how close the costumes where back then to the ones used in the current movie

They brought back Sienkiewicz, nice. He did a great job in the 80s adaptation.

Had to put off watching this because someone in our group got covid. Hoping it’s still playing in two weeks.

Watch this alternative version with deleted scenes included. New Dune is almost entirely comparable to this alternative version.

So this is about 11,000 years after the present day. Should be interesting!

Finally got to see Part 2 (came out late in Japan) and gotta say, that was some of the most satisfying 3 hours I’ve spent in the cinema in a long time.

After rewatching the Jodorowsky Dune documentary I came away with 2 things:
1) that movie had no chance in hell of getting made. Made for an entertaining documentary at the very least.
2) Jodorowsky is cringey. out of his mind, but not in a cool eccentric way

Anyways, Dune 2:
Opening scene kicked ass. Still think the score is the weakest part of it.

Almost done reading Heretics, I liked the characters and I feel like the story was easier to understand than some of the prior books actually.  what is everyone's opinion on the latter couple of Dune books?
