For my taste, the mastering and recording clarity is so much better than the last batch.  Everything sounds so much more plastic and tactile.  I think I said when the first 2022- sets dropped that it felt like a half step towards the 14-15 soundboards and away from the OneSix stuff, this feels like another few steps towards that, without crossing over into the hyper up close and focused sound that those sets have.

Ok it used to be AE_LIVE, or is the AE_2022 a temporary name? Like when in 2029 once they are finished touring it turns back into AE_LIVE 2022/2029, like AE_LIVE 2016/2018?

But then it must also be AE_LIVE 2014/2015, which is not.

Artwork wise, sound wise and mastering wise this is the best live batch I've ever heard. So many sets are amazing and stand out on their own. If this is going to be the level of quality from now on I might have to rethink my previous statement of not being content with just the live stuff.

I also love that they renamed it to just AE_2022, it makes it feel more studio album worthy.

Lyon, Krems, Rennes are all incredible it is actually crazy. Can't wait to dig in the rest

Listening to KREMS as that apparently starts the section of the 4 hr opus I haven't heard yet and fuuuck... it's so much better than anything off the first batch. Very easy listening for ae too (at least so far, I'm 30 minutes in). Next one will be LYON to check the final section of the "album".

I'm surprised this generation of the rig doesn't have banner ads to the North Face online shop...

I've only listened to two sets so far. It's extremely overwhelming (in a good way) and, as usual, will take me a few years to make heads or tails of distinct parts.

Listened to Lyon, Madrid and Dublin today walking around Vancouver in intense wind... bright sunny day, walking along the seawall bracing against this powerful wind and with waves splashing up onto the path. Gettin my ears slammed relentlessly all the while. Great introduction to this material. This shit is a force of nature.

yeah i mean we've been blessed with quite alot of good quality live recordings from these sets but shit still didn't even come close to the real deals liek fuk the clarity and lvl of detail are just astounding.

I'm envisioning a mega set going from Melbourne to Venice, then Paris into Lyon.  Each one sounds phenomenal, and there is a short crossover point in the material between each one.  Would probably end up being about 5 hours long.  I could put it on 5 CDs and call it El_Sex.

Regarding the "it's just jams" contention: I think that Autechre are back to where they started, or maybe they never really left. But they're really back at dj'ing in a way. But it's a different form of dj'ing, where instead of records, they're mixing patterns, notes, phrases, melodies, parameters, generative algorithms... All on the fly, but well prepared and always ready for immediate bending. These sets are so fucking organic! They seem to always react to the space as well as the audience, like a good dj would. I would say it started with the 2014 gigs. "Jams" carries this notion of aimless noodling, but I don't hear that in these live sets at all. Indulgent? Definitely. But all good art is indulgent. I think they built the perfect system for how they've always wanted to make music, all the way back to when they were nerding out in their bedrooms in the 80s. A system that combines deep edits with spontaneous interaction. What can I say.... This stuff is really FrEsH!!

Completely agree. Nothing compares 2 U Ae. Not even "there's nothing quite like them", but really there's nothing else, nowhere near. I have been trying to get my head around 4-dimensional space for a while now and it's just really mind-boggling. Autechre feels just like that, It's like what 3-D must feel like if you're living in a 2-D world.
