jkjkjk on that before, there’s only so many beats & so many melodies, especially coming out of the same couple of dudes. nothing wrong with some callbacks or whatever, if it’s good i’m in.

ye some lyon tunes feel like callbacks (like tri rep even), albeit fully integrated to the now. loving the fuck out of it tbh.

Yeah I'm 100% ok with that, it's not like they've reached their creative end, it's only then that it is a sign of rot.

More Treel?

I kneale!

Hi all - Ive been collecting the fan-recorded bootlegs on mixcloud for years, always tagging the AE store to go support the 'chre boise.

The question is, is there a place for them now soundboards are in full flow? I welcome all opinions on  this - not wanting to steps on the AE toes but mindful they are a different thing to crisp/clear recordings

Personally I think there's value to keeping the bootlegs around as a point of reference.  I don't think their availability will decrease sales in any way, because you can go and listen to the soundboards in full on their site at any time, and anyone who is willing to pay for them will pay for them regardless of the continuing availability of versions recorded on an iPhone.

the way the rhythmic elements are being kind of shredded at times in a very hard way is like they made a ganz graf widget/module in the Rig for throwing that spice in whenever they feel like it.

it's interesting to think who is doing what. what is the primary sound and what is the background sauce.. because at times it's really playful in some sets and then all the things that were background ish ear candy kind pull to the front/expand and what was in the front becomes full entangled in the ear candy background type things which spread out and full shake hands and it becomes a mesh of a composition that is just fucking absolutely banging and couldn't be more perfect. truly, the autechres are on it. fucking nailed it and dialed in.  it's a constant reminder of some shit they've said in interviews over the years - "there's nothing about the gear we're using that we don't understand" and it's that but they built the gear too.

pretty sure Sean has read all the manuals of anything of interest and yoinked ideas that raised an eyebrow and built something because of it.

i’m imagining one of those 90’s gear/tour walkthrough with some big guitarist going over every single pedal and amp and everything, but it’s Sean & Rob talking for 17 days about what every single thing they use in Max does

each of the 68 patches. a history.

"buy the 68 DVD set for $99 while supplies last.. act now and we'll throw in 68 bonus DVDs with director's commentary and 1 year subscription to WATMM"

i while back on Mastodon someone asked him a Max question and he said "i haven't opened max in months.. I've just been reading manuals"  (paraphrasing).  dude is always doing research and there's a whole other dude in the band doing his own thing as well.

randomly, this timeline is pretty choice really. definite ying/yang w/the level music/art/film vs garbage politics and psychopaths in charge of everything.

That's the real Ae_2022 - Stan and Ralf doing an audiobook retelling of this : https://docs.cycling74.com/reference/

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Think it's the old spelling. I like German spelling from that period (Nietzsche, not your pic). Quite a fan of "Thatsache".

I don't know if this has been askes anywhere yet or not, but could someone explain the A B C D segmentation for the live sets to me? What does it mean?

I’m listening to these in order from Melbourne on (still in that one, couldn’t listen last night). I hope I can get to Lyon before the world ends, but the soundtrack is great so far.

Even with the Set A start here it’s feeling more immediate and impactful than most of the 2022 sets, which I like but which aren’t quite my preferred Ae. This is still, thankfully, weird as all hell but it’s not decohering on me like some of 2022 does.

As in the 50 columns split into approx 4 distinct clumps of timcodes ? Those are the unique tracks played in each set

Yup, the so called A sets run from 1 to at most 15

B sets (only 2) are London B, and Venice

C sets range between 20-39

D sets (only 2) cover 35 to the 'end', although who knows how much extra material they are going to extend out to.

It's just a silly convention to make talking about things a bit easier.  Like, it makes a lot of sense to compare Milan and Melbourne, because they contain almost all the same major movements and motifs, but Milan and Lyon are totally different.

i don't know if it's canon or whatever, but at least as far as i'm concerned the A / B thing started with london, when they played two shows in one evening and called the sets accordingly upon release. everything after that is basically just the order they were bootlegged. so c is the one more or less starting with the end of b and d beginning with the end of c. but then you also have some sets which seem to be in between, like venice.

yeah.

so for this newest batch if you wanted the largest amount of new unique material in the least amount of sets you'd go brussels and lyon?
