Amen Warrior
Heavy topic. Do you have any interests mate? Anything you love doing? Mountain biking, painting, writing, swimming, whatever, something fun or creative (or both). You need something that will engage you mentally and physically, which you can do in your spare time instead of thinking yourself into a state. Also it's never a good idea for someone in your position to emotionally invest so much in a single person, mental wellbeing should never be dependent on one other individual. If you have a decent set of (bloke) mates spend loads of time with them, it may not seem like it but it really is better for you to be single at the moment. Also women are shit Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/45029-so-today/page/7/#findComment-1028432 Share on other sites
Guest abusivegeorge
Well afternoon everybody, my relationship is definetly over, I wished her well and that if ever she needed any help, she could always ask if her pride would let her, and I just told her to believe. After all I'm the one whos come through this without using, I still feel very shit with all of the other stuff thats hapenned, but you know what guys I'm the one sitting here typing on watmm without a drink, and I don't mean to be egotistical, but thats a fucking miracle. Amen Warrior, what you are describing is co-dependency, and that is something I am not, I let her have her stuff without "trying to fix her" my emotional well being was always centred on myself (she will tell you that lol). But you are absolutely right, it's probably a good thing it's over. As for things thats I like doing, it's a case of finding the time at the minute, I'm rarely free before 10 o clock in the evening becuase of the daycare and treatment I go to, the meetings I attend and the aftercare I attend at the priory hospital! At the minute thats where my head needs to be, so I'm going to keep doing these things, it's at night when the shit hits, hence most of my posts on here are midnight plus. pcock
did you start up with her at around the time she joined watmm? if so that was a seriously brief relationship. Guest abusivegeorge
Before she joined watmm but not long, yes it was brief, but we had spoken a lot before that, especially about our problems, for many hours a day, the emtional attachment became very strong, very quickly. As I say I spent the last weekend with her and all seemed perfect, I was none the wiser this has come on very suddenly over the last couple of days, but thats life I guess. pcock
whats your deal with a bit of spliff? will that not help? my desire for alcohol completely vanishes after a nice joint. or do you not want to simply swap physical dependencies. do you smoke? i really have no personal empathetic experience here though, i started drinking when i was 17 and its extremely rare that i even want to drink more than twice a week. i just like vodka redbull when i go out raving cos i struggle to keep up with the pillheads dancing until 6-7 in the morning. Guest abusivegeorge
I definetly don't want to be picking up any type of drugs mate, any mind altering substance for an addict is almost effective immediately addictive, becuase it makes us forget everything, it does that with non addicts too, but non addicts are able to adapt at coping with feelings without using. Guest ward
I never even saw this thread?! Nice to hear you're doing well george, i remember thinking not so long ago how anyone could get addicted to drinking, but in all honesty, i've realised that i can't really remember the last day i went without having a drink.... i was going to say i won't drink today, but then realised i'm going to the pub after football to say happy birthday to a friend, and i went the pub last night to watch the football, and i stayed in on tuesday and had some drinks with my dad watching football.. and it goes on and on.. is this how it started for you? i really don't mean to be rude, was it the consumption levels? or just the drinking every day? Guest abusivegeorge
The drinking everyday will push your consumtion and tolerance up mate, they come hand in hand fella, and if you haven't noticed it already you will if you continue, people have no idea how much damage this can cause. My liver is 75% damaged beyond any repair, I have to make sure the 25% I have left does not get infected and die, whilst in contact with the already dead and diseased part, my chance of living is just 30% within the next fiver years and thats without the drinking, I am 21. This really should be a wake up call to anyone who thinks they drink too much. You've implied you have no plans to remove the yucky section, is that right? It seems a liver-ectomy would be prudent in your condition. Guest abusivegeorge
They won't even consider it untill I'm in a hospital bed dying. It comes under self harm, and there is a 2 year waiting list for a liver transplant already, also to have the dead/diseased part removed from the living part via operation poses more of a threat to my health, than to just leave it and hope I'm alright with what I've got. So what are your chances living past the waiting list? You said 30% for five years, what about two? They can't keep you in the lobby forever. Guest abusivegeorge
I started drinking when I was 14, cider, just an awful lot of it. 1-36 my survival rate is 30% chance of living in the next five years, and thats optimistic. For the first two, it is of course less than that, but how much I do not know, as the WHO survey cover o-5 years of sobriety. You have to bare in mind I was drinking 420 units per week for 7 years without a break.
