Also why does my nether portal lead to the one by the train hub in coolville 1? Does it need to be further away?

yep, it needs to be >1024 blocks from the nearest portal in reality (=128 blocks in nether, what mc does is search for an existing portal within 128 blocks in the nether when going there)

nah I did. I ran it that night that I downloaded the funky black and white one... murves? remember you guys were guiding me through that process....

anyway I hadnt run the patcher SINCE the big update last week... does that affect it? right now the screen is a damn blank. dunno what to do.

yep. every time there's an update it'll overwrite minecraft.jar so you'll need to re-patch afterwards.

ok, just in case anybody else has this issue....

If you happen to switch to a diff. texture pack BEFORE you re-patch the game after an update I suggest going in and deleting the texture pack you selected. I found my texture packs in "APP DATA" , "ROAMING" , ".MINECRAFT" , "TEXTURE PACKS"

sweet now I can play!

As long as whatever they have to do to make minecraft work well on a console doesn't affect the pc version negatively it won't bother me. Minecraft on pc will always be more customizable via mods, skins and textures. I'll always play it on pc since I bought the game in alpha and don't own a console anyways.

i think part of the reason it's taken a while to implement is cos jeb had to figure out some limits. like, jeb's pistons won't have the portal-style 'aerial faith plate' effect you can see in this

ah ok yeah this looks pretty glitchy and does not go well with the chilled theme of rest of the game

They outsourced the game to another company for the xbox version. The PC version will always be notch and company.

Cogs and mechanics, connected to cogs would make this game really fun. You could build anything! Of course I have no idea how to practically make it work. But imagine making a real clock!

yeah that would be awesome. make things rotate. sculptures look more alive etc
