some guy has made a hardcore server. when you die you are banned from the server.

I think it would be awesome if we met up somewhere, made a village and worked towards killing everyone else.

Its a non pvp server but i figure we can be inventive, lava and gravel etc.

I'm down. We'll need to work together. We should get a 3rd person.

I just spent a couple of hours on the server. It's amazing, people have made towns to live together in. Everyone's afraid of death and everytime someone dies they all say 'RIP'. It's seriously awesome, a great idea.

Its really hard to attack because they are all so close together. The great thing is, if you do kill someone alone, there is no way it can be traced back to you. That player is instantly banned.

i had a couple of chances where i could've unleashed tnt but I lost my nerve, cos of people around. Also i tried making a lava pit under someones house and digging underneath the player to get them to fall in it...failed miserably.

Anyway it's fucking fun!

That sounds amazing. I'll be on later today then. Not sure where I'd go though.

Edit: I need to spawn when it's day time.

Guest Pennywise

get set up around x 800, z 1000.

If its a forest behind a desert, thats around where i was, infact look for a incomplete cobble house there, thats mine. The main aim is to get lots of tnt to make traps in peoples houses.

Also im gonna make decoy houses around my place with piston traps in them. I think hardcore servers will catch on actually, it much more exciting

That rail I've been building in town is pretty much done for now. It's connected to the rail that goes by super lurker, pete, me then onto Franklin and spacewrekker.

Cheers for all the help and a special shout out to SHIZ'S GLASS AND STONE that's SHIZ'S GLASS AND STONE.

I'll add another place to get on or off the rail further down there, if we're gonna later have an Upper Murvetown or something.

It doesn't connect to Adam's underwater rail yet but that can be sorted out when he's back home.

yo kokoon i was in the ravine under your sphere and found two spawners, a skeleton one and a cave spider one so now there's two drowners spewing out string and bones/arrows down there. just thought i'd let you know, they're at the far end once you turn left off the ladder. if they're in the way eventually just tear em down

started leveling some land a bit behind pete's music box (not too close though, bit of a forest first)... just in case people were feeling cramped, it's at the level of the rail

Looks like good land. But let's still focus on keeping the city dense. At this rate we'll hit that land in no time, but there's property in between Pete's Cube and the rest of the city that need development.

Try to keep to a grid system as much as possible (I realize it's starting to fall apart in that area of town Near Pete's Cube and around the fountain), but that is a big reason the city is so cool. A cool side-effect of dense building is that tiny buildings such as my phone booth, Ganus' Cake Shop, and small flower gardens appear in all of the little cracks.

Also, Pete brought up making a wooden section of the city, and I'm all for that. But we can decide on that later.

We need a new picture of the city/map. Is there a way we can get a better zoom-in of just the city so we can see specific roads better?

I think the best way to keep to a certain grid plan thing is go ahead and lay down streets and blocks. Then put a sign on the lot saying what sort of building would be ideal there (something industrial or something homey or some sort of artsy project, etc).

Don't level the land anymore either. I think it's interesting to force people to build with the contours of the hills and shit. It will look pretty cool that way. I mean a flat section is fine but for the surrounding area it would be nice to keep the land at it's natural elevation. Just level off extreme parts of it.

Agreed. A little less dense and some more planning before building would be good. Old Murvetown can feel a bit claustrophobic. You can take the rail right to that flat bit now. There's an exit either side. Quite a lot of already flat land on the other side of the rail.

I'll stop leveling. I believe the newest roads are by Pete's Music Box and the Lava thing. I don't care what anyone builds anymore. Here are some guidelines though.

1. Try to keep buildings two blocks away from the street if it is a small building, and much farther away if it is tall. Beker's club is a bad example, because it cuts into the road. Kaini's house tower's is good. It doesn't have to be that far, but you don't want to feel crowded when walking down the streets.

2. If you're going to build really tall, it can't be ugly. Obviously an opinion, but I don't want to see any cobble rectangles that are 10 stories tall. My office building is a good example because it is made of stone slabs, it has a small park, and it is L shaped. Also, if the citizens of the town think something is too ugly or imposing (kainis previous creeper head destination or Vamos' wall), they will be moved/destroyed, with warning of course).

3. When building next to an existing building, try to leave room for nature. In the early stages of the town, I zoned so there'd be enough space between houses to either plant birch trees or plant watermelons. Pete's fountain has wheat planted around it, which is even better because the city can use it as a food source, without having to have a hoe on hand.

4. Building outward is cool, but keep the city dense. I have no problem with building out, but in the future, I'd like to build a city on top of the city incorporating sky ways and such. This is probably a ways off though. Keep it in mind.

5. If you're going to break into a greenhouse, leave no evidence. I've broken into Ganus' greenhouse probably 100 times to get sugar cane, and I never left any evidence. Don't fuck with anyone's mechanics either. Redstone is a bitch.

I'm shocked how fast this city is growing. I'm glad it's been a success, because I was bummed about being spread so thin. Now we're all united :D

Edit: Other than these rules, it's pretty much a free for all at this point. I want to attract really awesome tall buildings to this town, which we're lacking that a little bit right now. and I kind of feel like that's because people are worried about doing something wrong. At this point the city isn't mine anymore. I'm just concerned with making it pretty/navigable. If you have any questions just ask.
