Quaristice

yeah i can understand the frustration with that, wit a little audio editing you can actually say make your own ultimate cut of perlence, all the versions are the same tempo. this is what i kind of did on my custom quaristice playlist, if there were 2 great moments from alternating versions i would just smash them together and make a super long edit.

Quaristice is a great set of work. I might be bias to it as it was my first Autechre album. Versions and the EPs only make it more valuable to me as good stuff.

biased

holy fuck, pet peeve

edit: yay, Quaristice

School never taught me these things.

Also, I don't really like Notwo.

that's how it started for me too yek. i'm still very picky about what i like and don't about the original quaristice. versions and quadrange are more progressive and experimental, and i feel like the tracks develop more naturally.

i have a deep love and appreciation for the quaristice live set though. and that was before i even enjoyed quaristice songs.

ps. i wish they played tankakern live, or at least dropped that low bass line

we should start sharing soundcloud or mixcloud custom Quaristice megamix playlists, this would probably be the only way we could get away with it or jorex will lock the thread

I have one that i did using all the longer versions, all the ambient stuff in between and edited together super long Perlence and Plc, ill upload it soon

It took me some time, but now I fcking love Quaristice, I mean, the original album. The alternative versions are good, or even very very good (with The PlclCpC and IO(mons) being my favourites), but I think the main 20 tracks album works already perfectly.

So I never tried to do some "Quaristice Megamix", but the idea seems very interesting (maybe, somehow, they wanted us to do it - but it's been said before) and maybe my love for those sounds will grow more and moar. Waiting for yours to come, Awepittance !

Yeah, I did something similar, with a 20 minute mix of some of the perlence tracks and a few other 'combined' mixes (tankakern, IO, chenc9. notwo/four). In the end though I dropped it and stuck in range 3 as it messed up the flow of the album too much.

About 2 years in, and after about 5 tries, I think I've finally sorted out my 'perfect' version of Quaristice.

Would love to hear your take on the perfect Quaristice.

I have been loving Versions lately - I think I mentioned this elsewhere already but it helped me appreciate Quaristice much more as an album.

To weigh in on this album myself - I liked it when it was new, as much as I can possibly like any brand new AE without fully wrapping my head around all of it, but once I tracked down the 2LP and played it on vinyl, with the four sides acting almost as if the album is four EPs - then it all got so much better.

I'm not sure how many other people take this much note of side separations like I do, but IMO it can make an album so much better when you consider it. In my mind when I listen to Quaristice now, there are four openers and four closers. Some of the shorter segue tracks make much more sense as either palate cleansers or atmospheric cartilage holding the skeleton together.

Love it.

I only have the Cd release, how are the sides split on the vinyl versions?

Loved Quaristice from the very first listen and it is my second most favorite ae album after Chiastic Slide and a #1 at replay-rate. I'm mad about it! Thou i have to be in a specific state of mind (with or without chemical help) to fully get to all the tracks :)

My most loved tracks are Theswere (~1700 plays scrobbled, and counting %D) and Rale.

Paralel Suns, imo, is one of the most powerful, mysterious and deep ae pictures. It's a fucking portal to deep space.

That's what I hate the most about vinyl, the feeling of having 2 or 4 EP's - it works well with some albums, but in most albums it just kills the flow and the cohesive (spelling?) feel. Drukqs, for example.

Drukqs, cohesive? if i were to write a list of the 10 least cohesive albums that i still like, that'd most definitely be on the list. odd.
