Quaristice

quaristice during a barely navigable blizzard was money.

smoking blunts and driving around on highways that were technically closed (no visibility, no salt on the road, 7 inches of snow that night) in PA was how i really got into this album.

When I think of Quaristice I think of Antarctica for some reason. I think it's the blue cover with white writing.

Quaristice was very immediate for me, I loved it on first listen. On release, it was only my 3rd autechre album, so I guess I didnt exactly have huge expectations for how it should sound, I thought it was a very fresh departure.

Quaristice is my by far least favorite Aelbum.

Agreed. I am going to listen again to it this afternoon see what happens. Maybe because the opener is one of the finest tracks I have ever heard, then it all seems to go in strange diretions and by the 3rd or 4th track I just turn the fucking thing off. I know there are some great tunes lurking in there though.

It pains me to say this but with this album you need the remote control and skip button close to hand. Some of the tracks just grate in a bad way.

Quaristice is great, especially tracks like perlence, simmm

i think tankakern and fol3 deserve more attention, the croaking bullfrog noises in fol3 totally contrast the weird push/pulling feel it gives

the growling beast in tankakern is great too

Ok, it's the first time I have gone all the way through this album without stopping (which is a bit odd for an Ae nut, but that goes to show how I never got on with it)

Albitzz, Perlence, Rale, WNSN, Chenc9, Notwo (which is playing at the moment) are real strong. My mind wandered a bit during the middle though I know Paralel Suns is quality.

This album seems to have a haphazard way of tooing and froing. Some of the tracks (the good ones) remind of a funeral pyre on the edge of Antartica. Very, very otherworldy, especially Notwo which is just finishing. I can see this becoming quite adictive if I persist with it. It's a cold, alien album for sure and served in a tall glass full of ice

I can see the 'Autechre click' in the distance, somewhere through the freezing, snowstorm.

It took an alternate playlist with Quadrange and Versions material mixed in to make me truly love Quaristice (although I always liked it). The album proper still doesn't have the best track-to-track sequencing, imo, but the whole expanded package is really Ae at their most generous.

Having a second full listen now. The icy landscape tracks seem juxtaposed against the sound of rotting digital hardware.

No doubt a well weird album lol.

There are 20 fucking different autechre tracks on there, i love this abulum!!!!

I can't understand why people don't like it

i skip around all the time if i listen to all quaristici. some tracks i just don't want to listen to and others i need to listen to all through. like, i'm not going to listen to all the fucking perlences and 901s, but sometimes i'm really in the mood for one or 2 of the mixes. some great subtle ae moments in there.

it's very cold, dark and alien but i like those things

The only track I skip on Quari is Chenc9. Which is possibly the worst track AE have made, maybe ousted slightly by the Chenc9 versions.

You gotta be joking. Chenc9 is the shit. The end is like smirking into the abyss.

Nope. Chenc does absolutely nothing to me.

Might be because the melody sounds too much like it's channeling the old Casualty theme tune.

Love chenc9. I could listen to that groove coming in and out of phase all day.

Chenc9 evolved out of that live version of LCC. It's probably my favorite iteration of the live show on Quaristice.

This release didn't make much sense to me until I started listening to it every day during my commute... Now it just seems so perfect. The way the rhythms are layered against the melody in different times are great and the ambient tracks are top notch.

And Chenc9 is the best track on the album...

I know I'm in the minority, I just don't think it's good is all.

It's cool. I think at this point I'm in the minority with my underwhelmed reaction to Oversteps as well.

funny, i'm not big on chenc9 either. it's repetitive in an uninteresting way to me. however, the chencs from untilted/quaristice live sets is quite awesome.

When i see an autechre tracktitle i never know wich song it is and i always have to look it up lol
