I would have said Music Has The Right to Children, where Sides C and D split apart Olson and Pete Standing Alone.

Different strokes I suppose. I prefer vinyl or cassette formatting, because it makes me take note of certain tracks as they are ending a "phase" of the album, which otherwise would've been lost if I were listening to a CD. Transitions from track to track can be wonderful on CDs, for sure, but with most of the music I enjoy listening to at home (read: not in my car or in headphones while I read at night) I tend to feel like CDs are just essentially playlists and tapes/records are more "formatted" for home listening.

both of those are great, pretty much what i did too, the inclusion of the original intro + the longer versions melodic additions makes it a better song i think

That's what I hate the most about vinyl, the feeling of having 2 or 4 EP's - it works well with some albums, but in most albums it just kills the flow and the cohesive (spelling?) feel. Drukqs, for example.

Drukqs, cohesive? if i were to write a list of the 10 least cohesive albums that i still like, that'd most definitely be on the list. odd.

haha yeah i was going to say something... great avatar where is that from?

ah thanks, it's some of Bruce Pennington's awesome artwork, not sure if it was actually used as a sci-fi novel cover or not, but that's what he's famous for. did a lot of the classic Dune series covers.

agreed, i love quadrange, not much of a fan of quaristice though. the 901xxx and chenc9 variations are great too. so much good shit between versions/quadrange, and i enjoy a few songs from quaristice, when taken out of their original context. i jus love that they had this whole 'era' of shit, they've never done anything like it, and probably never will again. which is sad.

it sounds really max heavy but maybe that's just machinedrum?

either way quaristice grew on me more than any other ae release. I think it's best taken in as a whole.

they used barely any max, and it was supposedly all hardware i think

Thesun "playfully introverted" I like that.

I still find it a hard album to get all the way through, really mood based like most Ae. I remember listening to it for the first time with a mate who has no interest whatsoever in this type of music, whilst drunk. I was getting into it big time, with every track that passed i was picking up on themes, exclaiming wild eyed "can't wait for the next track man! how's it gonna move on!" He was goin "yeh man but it's too weird, how about some bob dylan". Anyway, I managed as far as fol3 (hehe) before I was forced to put something more mellow, acoustic & "humane" on.

One could miss some proper, deep long and winding tracks on this (but then there's cd2, quadrange) and yet in the right mood it really does shine through as one long track.

On another note, this album seems to include the most drastic style changes ever with Ae; Altibzz through IO, Simm and to tracks like Notwo and Outh9X. The latter two of which sound like something from Aphex' SAW2. Brilliant. Outh9X also sounds eerily like something Nurse With Wound could have done.
