Blue Eye Samurai does not qualify as an Anime according to MAL / weebs / otakus. It's not created in Japan, or made by a Japanese production company.

However... Netflix does market it as an anime. And it's influenced by anime quite a bit. And it's set in Japan. And indeed most Japanese people call all animation anime.

So ... it's probably ok to call it an anime.

Same goes for Arcane, Castlevania, Avatar,...

if Japanese people call Scooby Doo or The Flintstones anime, then the joke is on them

It's all anime. Animation. You wouldn't even know the word if it wasn't for the Japanese like what are you even trying to say?

Yeah I was trying to avoid using those terms, but they are really just the worst.

I'm not trying to say anything, it's what it is... Japanese call anime (derivative from animation) to every kind animation... but the rest of the world call anime specifically to animation made in Japan... check wiki, there's not even a consensus about that...

Which is the stupidest gatekeeping ever. Regardless, this particular show is very much in a style that clearly derives a lot from "animation made in Japan". So it's going to get called anime.

Really hope this gets more seasons, it was great. Don’t trust Max at all.

Yes. This was one of the strongest full seasons I've seen of a show in a long time.

Loved the show and they better not fuck this up but unless something has changed (besides the stupid MAX name) HBO has had a really great track record imo. Although I guess animation hasn’t really been their thing and that Velma series seemed to get panned hard for being a cynically woke disaster apparently. I think they’ll renew it based on reception.

Rewatchin first season of Fargo until the new season racks up some more episodes. Forgot how good this is! Just like an extended stay in the world of the original film

Do I need to watch the movie first to enjoy it? I’ve seen the movie, but a long time ago.

The show has nothing to do with the movie and each season is a whole new story that has virtually nothing to do with the season prior.

Nah, the kidnapping is the only common element, everything else is different. Loving the guy in the kilt.

Seasons 1-3 are all great. I couldn’t really get into the 4th season. This new one has some stuff going for it and some stuff going against it (like some pretty unbelievably over-the-top Minnesota accents).
Season one and three are probably the best. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is quite fall-in-lovable.

Watching season 3 of Slow Horses - Gary Oldman great as always.

Started watching Lucifer - absolute trash but somehow I can't stop watching it.

I watched a few seasons of Lucifer, it is absolute trash but good to watch but trust me you will tire pretty soon. Doubt you will get past season three before binning it.

this show should usher the beginning of the end for civilization, and it's actually pretty addicting (as it should be). it's basically squid game lite (games minus the deaths) with fake "real" people reduced to numbers getting "eliminated" while forcing contestants to plot against one another in (predictably) unscrupulous fashion

1st one was a bag of dicks...

finished this. really enjoyed it- although i have to admit "the challenge" is a bigger bag of dicks than the original show (which i thought was almost perfect).

would not recommend unless you enjoyed the OG (and can go along with very fake "reality"). or enjoy bags of dicks
