WASHINGTON (TNND) — A Florida woman has been charged after allegedly threatening a healthcare company using a phrase eerily similar to those carved into bullets used to shoot and kill UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. 

According to an arrest affidavit, Lakeland Police officers were contacted by the FBI Tuesday over an alleged threat made by 42-year-old Briana Boston. Boston had reportedly called BlueCross BlueShield after recent insurance claims were denied. 

 

The phone call was recorded and given to Lakeland police by the FBI. During the call, Boston was heard saying "Delay, deny, depose. You people are next."

 

Those words were found carved on the bullets used to fatally shoot Thompson in New York City on Dec. 4. Since then, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione has been arrested in connection to the killing and has allegedly expressed his discontent with the healthcare industry in a manifesto.

This phrase references an exact phrase used during recent current events regarding the UnitedHealthcare insurance company CEO who was shot and killed in Manhattan, New York," the report noted. "This information was released to the media and became a nationally recognized phrase directed against insurance companies."

Lakeland Police then made contact with Boston at her home. When asked if she used the words during her phone call, Boston "acknowledged she said it and apologized."

She said she used the phrase because "it's what is in the news right now." The woman told officers she did not own any firearms and was "not a danger to anyone."

Boston further stated the healthcare companies played games and deserved karma from the world because they are evil," the report said. 

Based on the statements and current events, officers believed there was probable cause to arrest Boston and believed the statements were meant to threaten the company by using the CEO's death "to her advantage."

Boston is charged with one count "Written Threat to Kill or Injure- Conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism." According to the Polk County Jail records, Boston remains detained with bail set at $100,000.

Police doing society a disservice. Why not arrest the insurer for one count of "threat to kill or injure" - to "his/her advantage"?

this is kinda surreal.. talking to the prisoners because they're watching tv and answering the reporter on scene by yelling out the windows of the prison. 

i know hasan presses the wrong buttons for some people but this is pretty reasonable and not too long.  i haven't watched anything he's done in quite a while but this popped into my youtube feed during the ice the heat marathon to deal with/back pain.

I’m generally never upset when I’m stuck in the car at a railway crossing in the city. I love watching the freights go by when you see things on this level. Not that I agree that all ceos deserve to be murdered, but it’s just nice to see art for the sake of art is still alive. There are some wildly talented people out there. Can’t remember what news segment it was I saw recently but they were interviewing some guy and behind him there was a huge Ichabod roller piece on a shuttered store front behind him and I completely tuned the guy out as soon as I noticed it lol.

i often encounter dope graffiti on bike rides. i try to take pics of the ones that catch my eye. there's some good art in this city.

HM is the most legendary crew in the MPLS area. Came across this biking around. Usually I like to hit Singletrack because it’s more exciting and engaging but every once in a while I love to just bike around the city as well.

Supposedly Japan’s worker to CEO salary gap is 12 to 15x for most large corporations. I heard a rumor that it was a law over there but that turned out to be untrue. Perhaps it is a part of certain policies? Anyways, the gap is slowly increasing over there unfortunately but in the U.S. apparently it is 200 to 300x.

Obviously not all CEOs contributions, the companies they work for, or the products/services they provide are all the same.  But goddamn it would be nice if we could get this down to at least 20x or some shit.
