  1. 1. Did "minipops 67 [source field mix] meet your expectations?

So now that all of you have gotten your first proper listen of "The Manchester track" aka minipops 67 [source field mix], what do you think of it? Granted, it's not a "new" track (Richard's been DJing the track since 2007 2010), but did it meet your expectations? Vote!

2007 even!

At first I thought it was not as different as the live track so listening to that definitely coloured my expectations. On the 10th listen or so I'm really, really loving it. So many periods of Aphex are to be heard in this track (Analord, Tuss, Come To Daddy, SAW 85-92 even a bit).

I think it's quite a gamble to put this track out first (which is good imo), it's a really chill high quality produced track but not really what many would see as a "single".

Surprised at how much it sounds like Plaid, at least melodically. If this is the worst song on the album, our brains are going to be melted.

I've waited 4 years to hear it. So no, it hasn't coloured my expectations, so much as whet my whistle.. And it's funky, and staysinteresting (dat breakdown @ 3 mins, I was fearing that he'd cut it from the release or something, but no..).

I'm hard as a rock right now tbh.

This post sounds super negative but I emphasize clearly this song is the tits. The fact it sounds like Plaid is a super bonus to me and my Plaid loving ears. :music:

I never really understood what people liked about the "Manchester track" that much. At least the live recordings just didn't impress me that much and I was much more excited to hear that the "Metz track" is on Syro.

However, the studio version of this has so many little details in it. I just love it. It's been on repeat since I downloaded it fr Bleep.

I can't vote since I want new stuff (unheard) and I never really liked that much the Manchester track. I think Metz is the real killer in Syro.

Don't know if this was mentioned - they've gone for that same breakdown of stats for the youtube video.

Might wait to hear it properly when I play the album, the temptation is there though.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Ah, you're right! I forgot that's where minipops came to the public's attention!

It's really hard for me to tell now because it's so dense, even chaotic, that it feels it's almost like 3-4 different tracks innit, but it has calmer moments where you can basically calm down, which actually helps, I think it would be classic

sickest sub drone kicks i ever heard

Hell yes, this track is great! Has the lovely sense of melody and playful rhythm that make it fun and complex at the same time. Definitely feeling it, my hype for the new album has just grown exponentially.
