Green lantern 3/10

Truly horrible. I kinda quietly cheer for Ryan Reynolds because he strikes me as being a nice guy, but the chemistry between he and Lively was non-existent. The script had a lot to do with that, but at some point, you gotta look interested, Ryan! Maybe that's what ended his gig with SJ.

The veteran 6/10

Low budget film with Toby kebell, kinda good, but lost the pace in places and the ending wasn't to my taste

source code - 5/10 - i was enjoying it up until

it was good dark story until the string symphony started kicking in and the treacle syrup poured all over the end and fucked up what could have been a very good film

6/10

the getaway (again) - not peckinpah's or mcqueen's best work but a good ol' heist romp none the less. ali macgraw is annoying. 7/10

wet hot american summer - 8.5/10 i havent seen this since it was relatively new on vhs and i've definitely never seen it sober, but it held up pretty well. yeah it's a disjointed mess of a film but good fucking god there are so many laugh out loud moments. it starts off so normal and then just spirals into complete and utter insanity. chris meloni and paul rudd are fucking amazing in it. so is amy poehler. crazy good.

the yellow sea - utter shit

at first i was surprised it was made by the same guy who did chaser as its first 40 mins are quite good and suspenseful and the acting is decent but then it gets full retard with the knife/axe fights, invincible protagonist who manages to outfight and outruns tens of policemen and mobsters, noisy, poorly edited car chases and crashes, liters of fake blood everywhere. i just couldn't stand it anymore. it's just asian flavored michael bay.

O, HAI SQUEE !

Very rarely post here but I watched Bad Lieutenant for the first time a few nights ago. Great acting by HK but a grim movie imo. Not sure what to give it out of 10, as the story/plot is a bit pointless. But the acting is top notch and worth seeing for that alone.

Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

adjustment bureau 0/10

whilst i couldnt tell you what was wrong with it, i was no good. it was long and boring is all i got. the adjustment shit was bullshit. why did he have to spill his coffee? so he wouldnt get to the office on time? why didnt they just "recalibrate" the other guy earlier... like at his house when he was alone? it all makes no sense.

Hobo with a Shotgun - My mind was blown by the sheer amount of dodgy gore and crap one-liners, cinema has nowhere to go after this one.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

About Alphaville haha, watching a Godard to me feels like working on a physics problem. You want to turn it off and it drives you mad with frustration but once you unlock the film (usually when it's finally over) you realize it's the most awesome thing ever.

no youtube videos in the signature, lolz

much love,

Green Lantern definitely suffered from Frankenscript. It seemed like initially they set out to make a spiderman style earth bound super hero movie and then retooled the entire thing to make it intergalactic to compete with Thor. I actually enjoyed the ambitiousness that the movie had at times, the opening 10 minutes while having so-so CGI i thought had a very psychedelic scifi creepy quality to it. It made me think about what new scifi movies could be like if one was entirely like that opening sequence. It might not be very intellectual but from what i saw it would be a whole lot more enjoyable than all 3 star wars prequels.
