I'm about to start Sátántangó, but considering that it's 8pm and the film's 8hrs long, it may be a two part affair. christ does it look gorgeous though!

Very rarely post here but I watched Bad Lieutenant for the first time a few nights ago. Great acting by HK but a grim movie imo. Not sure what to give it out of 10, as the story/plot is a bit pointless. But the acting is top notch and worth seeing for that alone.

Green lantern 3/10

Truly horrible. I kinda quietly cheer for Ryan Reynolds because he strikes me as being a nice guy, but the chemistry between he and Lively was non-existent. The script had a lot to do with that, but at some point, you gotta look interested, Ryan! Maybe that's what ended his gig with SJ.

Green Lantern definitely suffered from Frankenscript. It seemed like initially they set out to make a spiderman style earth bound super hero movie and then retooled the entire thing to make it intergalactic to compete with Thor. I actually enjoyed the ambitiousness that the movie had at times, the opening 10 minutes while having so-so CGI i thought had a very psychedelic scifi creepy quality to it. It made me think about what new scifi movies could be like if one was entirely like that opening sequence. It might not be very intellectual but from what i saw it would be a whole lot more enjoyable than all 3 star wars prequels.

I agree with you. It started with a little promise, like a bit of a The Last Starfighter vibe, maybe a little 80's reboot of The Twilight Zone. It then spiraled into something worse than Ang Lee's Hulk.

Black Death 7/10

I normally don't like period films like this, but Christopher Smith comes through once more and manages to make it interesting, even a little Wicker Man'ish.

Hobo with a Shotgun - My mind was blown by the sheer amount of dodgy gore and crap one-liners, cinema has nowhere to go after this one.

I forgot about this one. Fucking nutzo! I liked it a lot, but it definitely made me feel sick. I appreciated a healthy dose of unrealistic splatter gore. The music was :emotawesomepm9: too!

Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" - 8/10

brilliant film. A simple concept, the entire movie taking place in one set, similar to rear window in that regard. Very twisted. There were some very very long scenes in that film, the actual cuts were very subtle which made it seem as if the entire movie was somehow one long take. Great ending.

Don't leave it at that, do a Hal Ashby full sweep. Well, actually, I've heard his '80s films aren't so hot.

yeh all ive seen of his from the 80s was 8 million ways to die and it wasn't bad, but it was pretty not-good. if you know what i mean.

i watched Objectified yesterday. 7/10. it was a bit boring but i mean it's about industrial design so it's not exactly going to be action packed. but it just kind of wandered around and touched on some really neat ideas without really exploring any of them in any sort of substantive way.

I am almost through Event Horizon for the first time in years and i still love it.

Event Horizon is a nice mix of, like, 80% goofy b-movie & 20% :wtf:

It's Hellraiser in space. Not a bad movie, certainly enjoyable enough.

Yeah I wouldn't say it was B-movie either. Maybe a little bit cheese, but it certainly takes itself seriously.
