thor - 7/10

i loved all the asgard over the top, sensory overload cgi shit, it was quite imaginative. the earth stuff was weak, all those tired pop-culture references..still, good ol' hollywood fun, definitely worth a BRrip download.

I'm watching it right now. Asian people in Asgard? lol

Thor

Entertaining but also quite silly and it sort of shits all over the Nordic Mythology. But I guess that it's based on the comic more than the actual mythology.

Pros:

Kat Dennings - I want to bury my head in her bosom.

Natalie Portman

Kat Dennings

Stellan Skarsgård

Lolz:

Rene Russo?!

His beard? It's so... yellow?

Loki sucked ass.

And what's this? Thor falls in love with Natalie Portman? Ok... but Thor was married to Sif... huh?

From my review...

  Quote
The final line of the film completes the puzzle. The real disasters aren't the natural ones, they're the ones caused by people assenting to participate in a mutual delusion (credit, shares, religion, hatred, environmental fear, nuclear fear, vaccination fear, etc)

So I guess not.

But I still hate Israel so you can still feel all internet ragey at me if you want.

Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

went back and watch shaun of the dead. 10/10 classic. then went back even more and watched spaced. much better. A*/10 maybe asylum is even better as its earlier still..anyone seen? and what happened to jessica stevenson, she wrote spaced then disappeared except for a bit part in shaunofthedead...?

6.5/10

Beautiful movie considering its low budget, sounded awesome on speakers, unfortunately it lacked in character development and some other shit.

Loki was the best part of Thor!

Nosferatu (Werner Herzog)

This is an homage to one of his favorite films, it is OK. Really liked the rats and whenever Kinski is attacking the couple.

Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe (Les Blank)

The coolest man on planet Earth eats his shoe. 20 minutes.

Paris is Burning (Jennie Livingston)

New York gay scene in the late 80's. Poignant and life-affirming. I want every single song in the soundtrack.

Sans Soleil (Chris Marker)

Next level awesome meditation on memory, travel, cats, Japan, video synth art, Vertigo, politics and lots of other stuff.

much love,

nosferatu is actually a brilliant movie. incredibly subtle and adept in its way of creating a stylistic bridge with the previous period of great german cinema, while moving it forward at the same time - use of popol vuh, kinski being a classic murnau "vampire" but then being himself i.e. batshit insane.

possibly my fav non-documentary of his. even dwarfs comes close haha

A Life Less Ordinary - 5/10. Had it's charms but was generally a mess. Would have gotten a slightly higher score if not for the really hackneyed, middle school essay style summation at the end. Awful.

yeah disappointing that one

I'm not familiar with the Murnau film, which may explain why I missed the subtleties but a lot of my favorite scenes looked so iconic I'm sure they must refer to the original. I have the dwarfs film on que, really interested in that one too.

Is a Thor BR rip floating around right now? I watched a telesync version of it and i was actually surprised how much of it worked for me. It's the only one of the Marvel films i've seen that i would gladly re-watch

Submarine 5/10 hmmm billed as the best brit comedy in years.... It wasn't
