OK but you forgot to add your reviews and ratings

49 Up (Michael Apted)

Got this weird torrent where the second file does not match the first and I don't care enough to figure out what is going on so I only saw one hour of two. Some of the stories were very moving, like the loner guy and the woman that works with disabled children but I think the rich professor is correct where he doubts the value of the entire series. There is something unfair, patronizing and vaguely cruel about this. proto reality TV. real world truman show. Etc.

Ok, but you forgot to add a rating to your rating.

I think the whole Up series is 10/10.

I see what you're saying though. I just chalk it up to the filmmakers being British.

Also

I just saw Fright Night tonight.

8.5/10

Fucking solid. Great cast. Great story. Great remake. All around great. I'd see it again. There are also a couple SUPER hot females in it.

Recommended.

Yes I have seen far more worse shit than this, so 8 it is, will never be watching it again, but im sticking with 8

Gosford Park - 9/10

would be a 10/10 but it's not my favorite of favorites. that said it's still hilarious and basically flawless

i think 6 is what you really rate it

1: hate: 1

2: dislike

3: about one ok thing it edit: that didn't make sense

4: ok, hard to watch, more bad than good

5: middle, good and bad in equal measures

6: watchable, a little bit more good than bad

7: good

8. very good

9. exellent

10. perfect

surely an 8 is a film you'd be likely to watch again

edit: not a perfect rating system 8/10

I give you mad props for laying it out accurately. Nice job :flower:

I'd probably watch a 4/10 again, but that's me.

Yeah maybe if I watch the whole thing ...

Storytelling (Todd Solondz)

Two stories, the first is a delicious black comedy on sex, race and writing while the second is a general fuck you to documentary filmmakers everywhere and has a really scary kid on the way to become president of the US or Antichrist, or both. A couple of things broke the magic but I think this fine movie deserves to be seen, specially if you want to provoke women.

Crumb (Terry Zwigoff)

Documentary about three eccentric artist brothers, one of them very successful the others not so much. I admit complete ignorance on comic books but I found Robert Crumb's obsessions really interesting, he's an awesome fucked up horrible nerd who never really overcame a traumatic childhood and I want to get the Kafka book he made. Charles!!!

Hellboy.

Complete and utter fucking garbage. Switched it off at the 55 minute mark and watched Die Hard 1 which was on terrestial tv, I haven't seen this since it was released. A classic film which has dated but dated in a rather good way.

hahahahaha oh that is the twist?

finally saw rise of the planet of the apes. went in with quite high expectations due to good word of mouth and reviews and really enjoyed it. the apes were mostly good, which was what worried me after seeing the trailer. cgi apes. storywise it held up too. although anythign would be good after watching the tourist the night before. also frieda pinto

the new jason statham film trailer got my pants moist too. when he flips on the chair then out the window (internally) i shouted "fuck yeah!"

I like a good statham film as much as the next person, but really you could just take chunks out of all his films and paste them together and it would still be him doing what he does.

In that killer elite trailer dont think i have seen de nior move so much in years.

Fast Fast (fast and furious five or what ever the hell its called) 2/10 why is the rock still trying to act? he is awful at it

Glad I am not the only one here who enjoyed the fuck out of it.

submarine. better than the other michael cera movies / 10

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

Inland Empire --- 9/10

went in with not very high expectations because about 3 years ago I had watched the first 45 minutes while stoned and I just didn't get ANYTHING that was happening. Finally went back and watched it this evening and I have to say it is one of his best films. Like Lynch's Vertigo or something. There were some flaws obviously otherwise I would give it a 10, like why did it just randomly have a Beck song in it? Or maybe that made it better, can't decide.

Guest bitroast

Just finished the last episode of Larry Sanders Show.

I know it's not a movie but I felt like posting about it / didn't feel like starting a new thread. Amazing ending :')

Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes yesterday. It had it's flaws, but I enjoyed it. Enjoyable!

10,000 BC. This was shite really, only watched it because I was on the sofa and not prepared to do anything else. Like a shit version of 300 which wasn't too amazing either. Seemed like the kind of film that should have a few wrestler-turned-actors in it but I didn't spot any.

Inside Man. A bit patchy, couldn't really pin this one down. The plot just wandered about fairly recklessly, for a while I thought it was intentionally misleading but I think it was just poorly written. It just about holds together with good actors and some enjoyable scenes but never really goes anywhere interesting which is bizarre for a bank robbery film.

Mystic River 6.2 out of 10

Lars and the real girl - 8.9 out of 10

I think i have a crush on Ryan Gosling :emotawesomepm9:

Guest Benedict Cumberbatch

the girl who kicked a hornets nest 2/10

this triology took a real dive after the first one. the first one wasn't really about the girl with the dragon tattoo, it was about her and the journalist guy. then the next 2 films were just about her with him along for the ride. and they just weren't as interesting. perhaps it was because of the different film makers or perhaps it was just bad writing, i haven't read the books so can't say. the third film was better than the second at least.

I watched sober and still didn't understand a thing, I had to read about it on forums full of people obsessed with the film. It's a bit maddening to me how Lynch says the plot is very simple, feels like I need to do transcendental meditation or something but once you get past the storytelling confusion it is a cathartic experience, a very real three hour disassociation from the safety of your couch and you have to love Lynch for providing such a fabulous and pleasing ending, I really couldn't ask for more out of a movie!
