A few films recently watched.

Ghostbusters 3 has finally dropped Bill Murray, as he was obviously leading Akroyd on. It will probly suck either way.

Wow, didn't know he was on JazzFM. I'll have to tune in I think.

That's sad about Murray. It'll probably be like the third Home Alone. Pointless even trying to watch cause the reason it was so good previously is no longer there.

Saying that, I'll probably check it out.

they'll probably do a film where they have new recruits and they basically pass the torch and set up a new francise with all new people

Take shelter - 5/10 reminded me of the happening cos nothing happens Too slow and no pay off. Felt like wasted time.

I fell asleep while in the theatre.

A very relaxing film.

The dutiful wife annoyed the fuck out of me also.

Especially when nothing happens.

I can understand that. Yet, having just barely escaped the midwest last year myself, I can assure you that it was not in the slightest a misrepresentation of the people or their culture. It gave me nightmares because of how eerily accurate its portrait was of that vast swath of U.S. innards.

It was the first movie I'd seen with Jessica Chastain and I confess that she gave me a boner.

hunger games - 5/10 - somewhat promising beginning and it could go in all kinds of interesting directions but it went worse as it progressed and the ending was a complete weaksouce

bernie - 6/10 - interesting, but it seemed to me that it would have worked better as a full on drama instead of that comic cartoonish faux-documentary thing.

attenberg - 3/10 - someone compared it to dogtooth here which i really liked, it's nothing like it and it was really hard to watch, i got very little out of it even though i could identify with it on some level.

Speaking of serial killer films, did you watch Angst? It's a cult film self-financed by its austrian director who never directed another feature film because of losses. The hero is based on the real scenario while interior monologues are borrowed from that Henry case. It was well ahead of its time regarding camera techniques. I heard a lot about it, Gaspar Noe particularly is a big fan, but i haven't seen film yet.

it's something that i have a hard time accepting, in principle i just don't believe that al qaeda exists, therefore the movie seems not like a 'brave' satire that might get chris morris killed, but as a pandering, already dated, playing into american and British war propaganda piece of utter shit. We can have a discussion about the validity of making a 'smart' satire movie about an existential made up threat in another thread if you'd like

The comedy elements in it were terrible. The lines by the stupid guy were cringe-worthy.
