Alpha City (1985) this is a really bizarre movie. It's a German film but the scenes were mostly recorded without dialog sound and mouthed in english and dubbed later in German and English. It's got the most awkward dub ever and I had to compress and EQ it to shit to make it enjoyable. This movie kind of reminds me of a dark gritty 80's Berlin version of "The Room". More B than a bee hive but good fun factor 7/10

Where did you see it? I was tempted to go Frightfest but its sold out already.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

The problem with Prometheus is that it feigned intelligence but was just as dumb as your average teen slasher movie.

True ... actually, I didn't hate it. I just wanted to get all the stuff that bothered me out of my system. But you're right, it was pretty much a slasher movie, but didn't really deliver as such either.

spot on

The first story was 10/10 for me but the rest were steaming turds.

Yes.

I felt asleep like 4 times during REC2.

I hated it. The first one was wonderful (as wonderful as a zombie flick gets), but the second one was terrible... and the third one... omfg... don't get me started on REC3.

The Ruins

Normally don't go for films like this, but I oddly enjoyed it. Not sure why. The gratuitous amputation scene was pretty great though.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

I watched 'The Man Who Wasn't There" the other night. it was pretty good.

spoilers!

Some of the stuff with the UFOs kinda confused me though. What was that all about? anyone know?

I'll review the segments individually (seems more fair)

Segment one ( the one with the three guys who wanted to do amateur porn) - The story was okay but it was so well executed that i'll forgive the stupidity of the story. Ending was intense - 9/10

Segment two (The couple on a road trip) - I thought this one was the worst segment, not interesting at all and the twist was so stupid - 4/10

Segment three (The one in the forest) - Great concept (slenderman?), the scenes with the killer were nicely done but it was poorly executed, the whole thing felt rushed. 7/10

Segment four (The Video chat) - this one was a wtf .. i loved it but wtf. 9/10

Segment five (the halloween party) - The best segment in my opinion, a great mix of suspense, horror and wtfness. 10/10

Overall rating - 7.8

Prince of Darkness 7/10

though the dialogue and bad acting often makes it come off as a parody of itself, it still has great music and an overall atmosphere of inescapable doom.

Some of Walter's lines insinuating homosexuality are downright hilarious: (Possible spoilers)

(speaking about breaking out in bruises because of nerves?!) Walter: "I used to break out when I was 12, doctor said it was homosexual panic"

Walter is trapped inside a small room with the two women standing guard outside, staring at him. Walter: "Normally I love being dominated by women"

The others hear him through the wall and he shouts out: "I'm in this closet!"
