Total Recall 2012 post production lens flare effects slathered thickly on everything. It actually didn't look like lens flare most of the time but just wanky artsy nonsense, like you were supposed to be watching the movie through a broken futuristic television screen or something. I tried to convince myself not to waste the $8.50 but really I think it's almost worth $8.50 to watch Jessica Biel on the big screen, she is great. The movie was pretty cool but lost steam and by the end I was sleepy, and the other 6 people in the theater seemed to be feeling the same. lens flare/10

DIARY OF A SEX ADDICT 1/10 oh god this was so terrible it's kina funny

The Dreamers.

Really liked Michael Pitt's performance, actually all of them were good except for a few scenes here and there, plus the film itself with its natural feeling.

Bertolucci told them not to rehearse the scenes before shooting and you can tell, in a good way.

Also worth the while if you just want to see Bond girl Eva Green naked or if you're into penis closeups, faces with defloration blood all over them and old film clips.

Watched Inland Empire again afer stumbling upon this article. It explores the story behind locations/architecture/furnishing etc. used in the film. And in relation to the Lynch's ideas and thoughs behind the film, definetely helped me make a bit more sense of the whole thing.

Great film by the way.

This is pretty much a documentary (alright, it's actually an episode of a tv program from Belgium):

These guys put together a crew and infiltrated one of those "Call-In"-Shows (the quiz-bullshit that's on every channel at night),

one of them even became the show's host, they got a mathematician, tried to crack the code of those ridiculous math-games etc ...

Somebody added English subtitles. Here's part 1 of the thing. I really enjoyed it.

Indeed very entertaining. Crazy that using that 'formula' is legal.

they banned those call in quiz shows after that program in belgium, pretty sweet but now they replaced it with horoscope call in to still suck the money out of the feeble

avengers - 6/10 - the whole film feels like it struggles with some boring stuff vs fun stuff and the fun stuff wins only by a small margin overall.

Cabin in the Woods - Before elevators opened - 6.6/10 , after elevators opened 10/10.

funny you should say that, I thought the film was pretty good before the elevator doors opened and then got worse.

Finally watched Blade Runner for the first time. Pretty meh. I'll probably have to give it another go, but so far, I don't see what all the fuzz is about. I liked the soundtrack though.

I don't get 'the fuzz' either. You are not alone on watmmer

I thought that first part of the movie was kind of boring and generic, i think i liked the second part better because it woke me up from the snoozefest that was the first part.

when it finally makes any sense you can't help to think that the whole script/idea was in fact a way to a cgi orgasm fest... which btw, didn't work, at all, bad cgi, bad!

go and watch the lorax for comparison

Ahhhh of course, how could I forget!!

I watched Psycho the other night for the first time. I have attempted once before but a few distractions occured within the first 20 mins so I left it alone for some other day. I switched it on in the middle of the night about 1.30am and sat back, to be honest not really expecting much......

I won't write an essay but I was aware early on, how much the music was playing a massive part in setting the atmosphere, the beginning part of the film when nothing sinister is going on still carries foreboding with it, the soundtrack definately starts messing with your mind.

The first killing when it came, didn't really horrify me too much, even though it s the first time I have seen the film, I have seen this scene countless times as it's one of the most famous scenes of all time, so its effect I guess was a bit diluted for me. Up to this point I am thinking meh, so so, nothing great. Then we start with the private investigator poking his nose in, and clearly unsetteling Mr Bates and then we arrive at the part when Mr PI goes up to the house.....

From the beginning when he walks up the stairs with this twinkling, twilighty music in the back ground (like assending to heaven it seemed to me to meet his maker) to the end (when he is descending after seeing hell), I will never forget the impact this scene had on me. I was tricked into thinking that Bates was downstairs. As he begins to walk up the stairs, a door cracks open and a shaft of light appears, some how in my mind I think this is a door under the stairs. As Mr PI gets to the landing, all Hell breaks loose (and I'll never forget it) I literally fire myself backwards into the sofa and scream FFFFFUUUUUUUCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! at the top of my voice. Bates is upstairs not downstairs and the split second pandemonium (with the classic violin shrieks) terrifies the living daylights out of me. The flowery dress and image of old grey lady with the blinding light of the butchers knife sent my brain haywire.

10 out of 10. Easy.

That scene scared the living crap out of me as well the first time I watched it. I really didn't expect anything like that from Psycho.
