squarepusher I'm really confused

Right, I fucking loved boxcutter, thought his dubstep was just really different, great and intriguing. The dynamic to his music as it built up made some of my favourite music I have.

 

However, and a fucking big, however.... He released his second album and although I do appreciate the different mood and style, it wasn't for me, as good. Then he released his newest one and just.. it's fucking the same as aphex analord.

 

Here comes my big confusion.

 

What the fuck has happened to boxcutter, venetian snares, squarepusher & aphex twin and a fucking ton of other artists?.. Why the fuck do they keep doing this same style of shit sounding 70's education sampling music?

 

I'm really confused about it all. Did they all think they should pay their respects to aphex twin? If so, fair enough and fucking brilliant that I now know the reason to this oddly strictly following trend.

You can hear the new boxcutter album right now at your local arcade. Also featuring is venetian snares' Horsey Noises, Remano Eszildn's R-Tracks, suqarepushers Just a Souvenir & ofcourse not forgetting the shit LastStep bollocks.

This sounds so much like Analord that I had to check to make sure I wasn't listening to my record player by mistake - and it's hundreds of miles away!

The real question is why you think this Boxcutter release sounds anything like Analord.

Using excessive filters to 'sound IDM' rather than using them to emphasize or accentuate any of what should be the better parts of the composition (which there really isn't much of as far as substance or complexity is concerned).

 

Rap music has been around for what, 30 years now(?), despite that it started all sounding the same fucking shit 25 years ago. Same thing happened with IDM.
