* the clever sheep realised the music is based on electronics. the starting point is now which area of electronics to explore. electronics v. important

* analord is not a bandwagon. it is a masterpiece series to show the sheep the way forward and it worked perfectly

* VST/laptop/glitch/kid606 had to die and only the leader (because of his influence, reach and ability) could lead everyone away

* ceephax was too underrated/unknown and that had to change because he's a true genius

* autechre fans are confused (hah, perfect!!!!)

* drexciya = genius, an example for all to follow proudly

* The Star Wars argument:

first 3 star wars films are FUCKIGN WICKED!!! fucking amazing space fights done on real models and real matting and filmed on real film. real puppets that exist in reality then you film it. the more "real" the better. last 3 star wars films all CG crap all digital crap all CG fucking JAR JAR FUCKING POO. nearly every shit done on computer. george lucas deluded piece of poo director. you see? now everything in music is moving towards the classic fucking 3 star wars films away from the 3 SHITTY digital modern computer films. it's not a bandwagon it's teh true way

* aphex is genius, totally glad he took the right direction. he's the greatest electronic musician of all time imo

i cant remember all the arguments but ill put all the main ones up on my geocities site when i remember

"explore electronics" is pretty much the most important idea at the moment and is the big thing for a long time until they start making computers not based on electronics any more. quantum computers? or some shit

on a side note It's just really shameful in general to me that the Roland drum machine & 303 fetishism has gone this far,

This is the same as saying "The Asian culture has really gone too far with their use of rice." Roland sounds are a staple of electronic music. Techno=Roland and Roland=Techno. If anything, the fetishism hasn't gone far enough; consider that most rock albums use one or two guitars, a set of drums, and a bass guitar. It could be a lot worse i.e. 78 minutes of Rebirth 1.0 At least most "copyists" people are mentioning in this thread make an effort to use a Roland/"Analord" backbone and add nice things to the palette like DSP edits, interesting pads and synth voicings, and enhanced rhythms.

hmm...not sure I agree. Recorded electronic music has been around since the 1940s , and it existed for a long time without a 303. 303's are obviously a staple of acid (well, more than that..without them acid wouldn't exist) but to say it's a staple of electronic music as a whole is to ignore a much broader genre.

Is there an analord bandwagon? The only truly derivative post-analord stuff i can think of is last step, which is SHIT.

I think analord is a gentle reminder that making electronic music can be fun, that the joy of the process is just as important as the end product. I think druqks left too many people languishing at their computers desperately sequencing their next 'drill n bass' masterpiece, which is a miserable way to make music.

It always comes across in the tunes. Does it sound like flashbulb had any fun whatsoever making any of his music? No.

That new boxcutter album sounds absolutely lush. The closest boxcutter has come to an analord track is bloscid from glyphic.

most of you are in fucking denial. the first boxcutter album was great now he's getting shitty like laststep. i mean, people actually listen to that shit?.. some of analord was good but to use the awful sounding tr439 whatever the fucking shit it is, is a step in the wrong direction. its all shit for fucksake, u fucking weird artists, make some fucking music again worthy of a purchase.

from now on i'll look forward to wagaga's releases.. he's the guy who's actually trying and he's producing some great music. fuck all the other knobbers trying to be retro, you've lost the plot, now hand in your fucking credibility badge.

Oh no certainly not the same quality in production, but you see where the inspiration for laricheard and bwoon dub came from.
