Autechre how would you get a girl into autechre

If girls become fans of autechre they will slowly morph into the typical male idm nerd. I used to be a cute girl then i bought an Autechre album just cause i liked the cover, 2 weeks laters and had a penis, grew a beard and was into vinyl, i also went to music message boards and had internet debates with 14 year olds about how flac is better quality than MP3s.

Don't let your girlfriend listen to Autechre unless you are gay.

If you think about it...Most of this type of music is made by somewhat antisocial, loner types, probably smart enough to be considered slightly autistic, who enjoy taking psychoactive drugs and experiencing the "religious" experience that they give you. So, to think that you are going to get some girl who has never experimented with drugs and isn't even curious about it into this type of music is kind of naive. All this music was at least indirectly inspired by drug experiences or the mind opening after-effect that they cause. Although, I find a lot of the hardcore ambient stuff to be incredibly boring as well. Of course, there are always exceptions.

 

for the record, I have never experimented with drugs, and I have no interest in it at all. Not even curious.

Yeah, that's a fucking stupid thing to say. The only music I can get along with while on drugs is shit music, because it strips away my overwhelming negativity and makes me almost a nice person. I listened to AE years before I ever tried drugs and if you can't enjoy it without taking drugs you might want to investigate the possibility that you're retarded.

errr. nobody's saying it can only be enjoyed whilst on drugs. just that drugs might help.. a person to enjoy it more or understand it more. and that most ae fans probably do them.

the flip side is that.. people who love ae's sound without being intoxicated at all.. are also just as "retarded" !, in some way, if not more so.

My girlfriend puts up with a lot of my music and she digs some of the more accessible autechre (like the early stuff) but really anything past Chiastic Slide she would probably just describe it noise and bleeps and bloops

how does anyone get into autechre? Just play it alot, the first time i heard autechre it sounded like bleeps and poops to me aswell, most of their newer stuff does, i just already know what to get from it now!

Just play it a million times and tell her it's like being on alien drugs without having to take any and before you know it she will puke out the drugs on an autechre gig

Trans women are women. But really, we don't need to have a clusterfuck of an ill-informed debate about gender identities in the Ae forum.

There have been (somewhat flawed imo) studies that have shown that transgender people have a significantly higher IQ average than cisgendered(normal) and homosexual people. Also, transwomen (and transmen) may have been open to a wider range of experiences in their lives, and accepting yourself as trans when it's terribly misrepresented in the media also requires some relatively abstract thinking of sort. But regarding the study, I think reaching the point where someone considers themselves transgendered and is tested in such a study maybe requires a higher education, and a higher salary to pursue fixing it, on average. So as a sample I think it is only representative of the community, not the genetic occurence itself. There is possibly no IQ differential of note, transgender numbers in society will continue to increase and diversify as society itself is more educated and accepting of the issue. These people are out there, they just may not know it yet or are too scared or suicide to escape it.

Leading back into the question, can females be into autechre? Yes they can, but, like with a lot of young men here, it requires liking similar music to reach the point of appreciating autechre. Some women, and trans people especially(for obvious reasons), try to 'fit in' as much as possible, so it can be hard to guage a person's true interest in certain things.

Guys dont wake up one day after listening to chart music their entire lives, and suddenly realise they love Autechre. It takes some music listening to get to this point, guy or girl.
