If you think about it...Most of this type of music is made by somewhat antisocial, loner types, probably smart enough to be considered slightly autistic, who enjoy taking psychoactive drugs and experiencing the "religious" experience that they give you. So, to think that you are going to get some girl who has never experimented with drugs and isn't even curious about it into this type of music is kind of naive. All this music was at least indirectly inspired by drug experiences or the mind opening after-effect that they cause. Although, I find a lot of the hardcore ambient stuff to be incredibly boring as well. Of course, there are always exceptions.

I believe you for sure. But I definitely think you might fit into a minority RE the drug thing. I think the music and certain drugs go hand in hand; there are a number of references to it throughout the music too....

That being said my gf ONLY listens to "IDM" and hasn't touched a drug in her life, and you also fit into that category. So I know there are definitely exceptions. I think attributing this kind of music to any specific group is kind of weird and elitist anyway... If you go to an aphex show theres quite a few hundred if not thousands of people there right? I can't imagine they're all autistic introvertive druggies haha

Yeah, that's a fucking stupid thing to say. The only music I can get along with while on drugs is shit music, because it strips away my overwhelming negativity and makes me almost a nice person. I listened to AE years before I ever tried drugs and if you can't enjoy it without taking drugs you might want to investigate the possibility that you're retarded.

Depends on the girl, really. Do you expect a standard recipe to apply to any 'girl' or 'boy' ? There's a wide spectrum of tastes,behaviours etc.

Anyhow when I want to get people into Autechre. First I try with Incunabule,Amber,Tri Repetae. If I want to go more experimental from there I might try Quaristice and then Move of Ten and Oversteps. For those wanting to go ever more experiMental, Untilted. Then Draft 7.30 and Confield. LP5 and EP7 belong to the transitory phase the way I see it.
