Autechre probably titillates that hunter gatherer part of the brain in men, the part of the brain trained to track and look out for subtle and major changes and even if girls did get into Autechre I'm not sure it would be in quite the same way.

on the other hand, men only required spatial skills that dealt with large creatures such as game, because they were the hunters. most of their evolutionary development was directed toward physical strength and reflexes to make them better hunters, while women were more analytical gatherers and child bearers.

that's why women should like autechre and men like dubstep. even if men could appreciate autechre, they wouldn't be able to do it in the same way as women, because they lack the necessary attentional skills.

sadly i have just split up with my girlfriend of 5 years. but at first she did not think much of my music. but after years of me playing it and taking her to gigs she loved it. she must of seen AE about 5 times.

There was some probably a real girl on the internet sometime who liked a lot of IDMs, but she was kind of weird/schizophrenic and maybe she doesn't count

Garbage EP (except Vletrmx), Anvil Vapre EP (maybe except Second Bad Vilbel) provide excellent sexytime music, actually. Whereas BoC when played during sex feels mostly cheesy and gay (and I'm saying that as a guy who has mostly gay friends, who also like BoC, and they agree that it's gay) - I love BoC, probably my favorite musical artists altogether, but still. Unless it's Old Tunes Material, it's just not sex-compatible. Needless to say the child voice samples are a major boner kill, unless you're into that sort of thing, of course, in which case you should question what the fuck you are doing.

The honest truth about getting girls (or people altogether) into autechre or any other type of music is probably ... you can't. Like I said, my ex never "got" it. She liked a few snippets here and there, like most people do, but she'd never sit down and listen to the whole of Confield or even Amber cause there'd always be tracks somewhere that would "give her a headache" (literally, she didn't just say it, she'd actually suffer from migranes and shit - probably psychosomatic, but there you go) ... So why bother selecting tracks that are easy or holding back on the full ae-potential. When someone's not gonna appreciate the whole artistic approach, it'll probably stay that way.

Or maybe I'm just all radical about it now since, by mere chance (if there is such a thing), I quite recently came to be in the position of being with a woman who actually has TASTE! - YES. I'm keeping this one.

to answer the original question: how to get a girl into AE. I say: DON'T DO IT. She'll probably just ruin it for you. not everything has to be shared. The female brain is good for many things, but in this they are lacking. Probably a good science experiment could prove it.
