Minecraft

Has anyone tried minecraft on the xperia play yet? Apparently it's supposed to drop for all android phones some time in september. I'm psyched.

I like not having to eat unless I want to, I think it works perfectly. Also fuck xp. Seems they are gonna mess up the Minecraft mystique without intending to...the great thing about minecraft is it doesn't force you to do anything (other than, perhaps, build shelter).

I think the villages are a horrible idea too. Part of the appeal of the game is going into a virgin landscape for the first time.

New lighting engine looks good. Oceans look good. Other than that I'm unconvinced.

all i want is new materials to build with i dont see whts so hard to understand about that come on notch. its about BUILDING

we should be able to make like furniture and different stuff like that to actually make things lok like things instead of having to use 80% imagination

if this is what you want go play the sims dude

um duh, i never said furniture is the only reason i want to play minecraft... building is what the game is about, there havent been new building materials added in a long time

do you disagree the game would be funner if there were more materials to build with ?.........................

there are a few new blocks. The new dungeon stone and cobweb. probably more.

Yeah, also those blocks from giant mushrooms.

Just seen a video where endermen drop diamonds. Pretty uninventive.

i agree, nobody likes to sit on wood or stone couches. we need some cotton planks up in here!

that first statement reminds me of the movie se7en. the whole xp thing is stupid. going multiplayer at level 1 with players on level 32 is just fucked. i don't like the idea of minecraft turning into a "game" and am also not a big fan of the villages aspect. the only good coming out of that would be trading. trading wouldn't be so bad. who needs thousands of blocks of redstone unless you're that guy who built the "punch the minecart game"? the new biomes are wicked but we should be able to build something more than just a tiny raft. if we can build skyscrapers why can't we build something more like a ship? the oceans look pretty vast and it'll take forever to get from island to island in the regular boat. no?

villages are optional, you can turn them on or off

I like the village idea, as long as they are pretty rare. It'd give a purpose to adventuring to far away lands.

I also completely agree with Maximus. I realize that survival mode is about survival, but in our multiplayer servers, we've got the surviving down. Now we want to heavily customize our buildings. We need way way way more block types.

I want to also be able to build large-ish boats (5x2 would even be fine). I need a vessel to whale hunt on, and I'd like to be able to fish without it breaking. I'd also like to be able to freely walk on it, maybe mount a cannon on it and we could have cannon duels.

It's bull shit that Endermen drop diamonds. Instead of diamond hunting I'll just carry buckets of water with me to kill Endermens for diamonds.

yeah, I'm sure someone will develop a mob farm for endermen....

Couch's castle in watmm server is epic. I'm living in one of the guest rooms until I'll build something. I'm thinking about a restorant in coolville. Where do you guys hang out mostly? Or are you all just waiting for 1.8?

We're waiting for 1.8. I think we all split up in the end too. The down town area was the hangout.

I agree with the need for new "interior decoration" items/blocks, as has been discussed before, I also think anything that adds mystery to the game is good. In that sense endermen are cool. Ruins are good, I'd actually be fine with some sort of very scripted Indiana Jones style ruin with traps and a valuable item at the end, why not...I still feel there's so much more they could do underground to reward exploring, fossils and crystal caves (like the insides of geodes) are a few things that spring to mind...I'd also really like erupting volcanoes, mudslides...I also like the idea someone posted a while ago, about being able to make your own hotkeys for a specific sequence of blocks, like "4 in a row horizontal" or "4 in a row vertical", would make building much faster...just rambling now....

Most definitely making a watermelon house in 1.8

I agree. It's far too tedious building structure 1 block at a time.

it would be pretty cool if different towns have different things to offer. Like one town sells special arrows and another sells special armour. If they were really rare, that would give purpose to exploring.

You hear about the randomly generated abandoned mines? They have rail, torches and wood pillars in them.

I was going to say I don't think it'll be likely they will drop diamonds. Probably a place holder for now.
