I'm excited to use/see the new features in the reset server. As for single-player, I doubt I'll put much thought into it. I'll probably give adventure mode a go though.

the server is still pretty broken at the moment, I can log in and walking around is fine but there's horrible lag with making or breaking blocks

edit: i don't mean to sound like a whiny kid i really appreciate the fact that there's a server at all

im confused though...will the next update mean we have to reset again? I say that because the next update is putting npc's into the world and updating the nether. Maybe (a bit controversial) we should not use the nether till 1.9. It depends how much they will add to it though really.

i'm all-for not using the nether until 1.9 but we sure-as-shit better restart the server

I'm not using the nether anyway. Spawned on the roof once and had to use /kill. I don't want that again so I don't go there.

We should make a decent spawn point for the new map. Kokoon can change the spawn point so we can make a cool one and change it to there. The last one was on top of trees. I don't know about you but dying then spawning on top of a tall ass tree kinda takes the piss

Jeb recently mentioned that 1.8 will most likely not be released on September 8th, to allow time for more thorough testing and quality assurance. Still, there seems to be a careful optimism regarding the release date - while it may not be on the 8th, it will still likely be in the near future.

The reasons you mentioned, Pete, are exactly why I don't want to start up a new world. Because there will *always* be new content. 1.8 doesn't change anything, they are just trying to make a big deal out of what seems to me to be a mediocre update. So we don't have a lot of lapiz lazuli around, big whoop....I'm still in favor of keeping the old server and just building nether portals to new areas. Guess I've been outvoted tho.

yes, I would agree except I think the map size is what is causing corruption on our server. Futuregirlfriend has a place which is VERY VERY VERY FAR from spawn and travelling back to spawn from there (through the nether) literally crashes the server.

ah, so it's your fault I've had to go cold turkey due to server probs....waaah. Why the fuck did you do that? Multiple people have expressed their desire to get a copy of the current world, if we decide to switch to a new world for 1.8 (myself included). Why would you want to mess up our ability to open up this world later in singleplayer...

Not sure if you're totally serious. Nothing malicious and I'm not going to look for dates of posts and building activity. I'm sure that only world local to you is loaded and unloaded as you play, besides it's simple to trim parts out of the map if your computer should struggle. I can do it myself if anyone has difficulty with that.

I think four capital verys is perhaps an exaggeration too.

well we don't even know if that's what did it, the server has misbehaved in the past and it just needed a reboot....still waiting for kokoon to answer, have pm-ed him as well...
