im working on a really really big update of my texture pack probly the biggest one yet so ill post it here when im done hopefully in time for the official update release. if not probly a day or so after. OK thats all i wanted to say bye

yeah, sorry, i was trying to make a huge gmaps-style render of our world but i keep running out of memory.

1.8 looks cool. Although, very buggy and it makes my laptop lag a lot. The abandoned mines are very common but I think thats because the leak is a 1.8 demo for pax. enderman are way better than I expected. Oceans are huge ! HUGE!.

Lighting is cool but it still needs tweaking. Love the combat, love the food idea.

could someone link me to a mediafire of just the new texture pack? i basically just need to see what all the new stuff is so i can make the new textures before the update comes out lik a head start you know? but i cant seem to figure out how to do this , its like just a jar and i stick it in the minecraft folder and then it doesnt let me log in to minecraft and its not like it updated or changed the textures everything is still the same in that folder except the jar and i cant log in so what hte heckkkkk

right click jar open with winrar, you can find all the graphics yourself.. too lazy to do it for you sorry

not very impressed with the 1.8 early release (I know some of the kinks will probably get worked out). Overall my feeling is it's not essential, and just doesn't add much to the game...

Pros:

- oceans seem cool, larger biomes also nice

- trees seem to have a lot more variety

- lighting engine seems nice

- underground chasms are quite cool

cons:

- quite laggy on my machine (a big negative)

- the whole "let's make the game more exciting by amping up combat" thing seems like it was taken too far - it's now harder to kill sheep and pigs (more swings and they run faster), which is especially annoying with my lag. I hate you have to swing every time you want to hit, rather than just holding down the button

- exp balls are stupid, and somehow seem so un-Notch, i'm surprised he's into them. The game always had a skewed sort of realism about it somehow (seedlings to make trees, baking sand to make glass, getting flint from gravel, etc etc) that big green XP balls seem way too Mario, not Minecrafty at all.

profoundly meh:

- eating animation, oh wow cool, but now I have to hold down the button and wait while I eat, that's sure fun.

- hunger: I really don't care about hunger mechanics in games, just another hassle to deal with

- new terrain generation algorithm, or whatever: well, I like the larger oceans and biomes, but actually I don't think I like this algorithm as much as the old - things look too "round-y." It's not a big problem, but actually I thought the old way looked more realistic. I don't think he needed a new algorithm, he just needed to add a slider upon map generation for "dramatic-ness." That was my prob with the old terrain generation, it was capable of amazing stuff, but you never knew when you were gonna get a boring flattish plain, or amazing mountains.

Things I haven't seen yet:

- villages, ruins, endermen. Not sure why, I guess none of them were near my spawn.

Overall: meh out of meh

What I don't like about 1.8 is that 'f' doesn't change the reender distance anymore and that

I'm yet to find any villages but I really like abandoned mines, and you can get free rails there, yay. New items are great, especially iron bars and glass plates. Also I quite like the new hunger system and food stacking is obviously good. New lighting is very nice too. I also somehow get more fps and it lags less. Though sometimes it just crashes for no reason.

Overall It's probably my favourite update, I'm curious how the final version will look as now it's really buggy.

Not sure if I posted this already but I'm currently making a TOME in Coolville 1 that I think those of us that have spent a great deal of time on the server should burn, die, and be buried forever in. It will have wall space for each of our epitaphs.

it will be housed in the obsidian building just south of the Bone and arrow store on top of the hill there by my Montaigne house. Basically we should get together and all jump in and burn as a last hurrah on this map at some point in the next week.

well i just finished my texture pack so its good to go for the update . which i thought was coming out today. if i can figure out how to get the pre release working ill show you guys some pictures
