Minecarts should be able to be made into trains, and there should be bigger boats. Hang gliders would be pretty awesome so I second that. Airplanes/Helicopters/Zeppelins would be too ridiculous.

 

Paint could be made by mixing Dye with the Oil that will probably come from whales and be used for lanterns.

has it been confirmed that there will be lanterns? i thought i heard that torches will now be lit as you hold them making lanterns unnecessary?

i think he said it during his livestream at PAX (not the one via minecraft wiki) but i have a hard time understanding his accent so i might've spun a frabby there

I read something earlier about how torches won't illuminate the area around you while held due to the multiplayer lag it would cause, and lighting updates are to fix stuff like night/day light change lag. Just something I read though.

Poop. I think he should implement it in Singleplayer at least. Then if he ever works out the multiplayer lag he can make it an optional server feature.

New Lighting

 

In addition to the day/night cycle being adjustable, light is generated very differently now. The day/night transition will be very smooth, doing away with the "block by block, row by row" light level changes we have now. Also, objects like torches, light stone etc. will generate their own type (and color) of light, making it much easier to distinguish between them, as well as giving players the ability to light an area how they like! Finally, a new Brightness slider was added, allowing players to set the overall lighting of their game to their personal tastes!

in the old days (few months back) he would release little tiny incremental fixes and new shit--a few times when i wasn't even expecting it. now it's this huge anticipation thing. not for me though really. i like the game as it is.

i dont care i want real volcanoes i want minecraft to be as much an adventure as real life is if i didnt play videogames so much, the rivers oceans mountains volcanoes underground chasms ruines are a great start and i cant wait for minecraft to suck the rest of my short life out of me b4 2012 takes us all!!!

last night i noticed a show--or was it a doc?--about a family preparing for the apocalypse 2012/13. they weren't playing minecraft all day, but they were pretty much self-reliant. they had chickens, a compost (the chickens would eat the larva eating the compost), a few goats, a rain collector, an old swimming pool converted into a greenhouse, and all sorts of other cool stuff. then they showed this other couple, a lady and a tranny--men becoming women are called trannies, right?--and they were preparing sorta the same way but they did everything SO WRONG like storing meat in unsealed jars and just buying tonnes of canned foods instead of figuring out how to grow their own. they totally ran out of space for all the canned food and even had shit spilling into their bathroom.

That would spark my interest in the game big time. I'd be making bad ass shit in the structure design whatever mode and putting it up on whatever host website has it.

you could also download certain object bundles that fit to a certain skin mod and people could work together like they do already to create those

great idea, there are only two interesting issues with it ~

 

1) you'd never be able to sell your creations (not that this would be a good thing) since how could the player verify they got it, if they never encountered it randomly in game. So the option would have to be forever free (again, I actually like this, just saying they couldn't ever monetize it)

 

2) these things would only appear the first time you created a world, right? or whenever you explore new territory. So you'd be severely limited in terms of how many you could actually "add" to the game.

id like an idea like that except i wouldnt want other ppls mostly shitty creations just popping up in my world , but it would be nice if notch would add in like randomly generated wizard towers or like badguy castles or troll caves or things like that

different little adventures that had more of a purpose and had actual treasure rather than just being like half assed little ruin rooms with 1 chest with a piece of bread and a bucket in it

 

but ya the spore thing idk not too interested in having other ppls random crap show up in my world especially if theres not really a point

but the idea is that over time, the best additions would come with a user score...so you'd know you were getting something good.

Well if they're hosted on a site you could have user ratings.

 

That's how I used to find good unreal tournament maps like 10-11 years ago on nali city.
