Anyone keen on the hardcore server in December? Its a lot more balanced now with anvils and mining exp. KEEN?

Not much in my case. I checked it out a couple of times in the past week for old time's sake, but there's never been anybody online. I think the big red arse pissing lava in the art gallery was my magnum opus - not sure what else I can achieve.

Yeh, I think i'm done with non pvp minecraft, lost my love for building things. The recent updates seem to be tailored for pvp gameplay. Which is cool I guess.

Looking forward to brewing up invisibility potions with verticalhold and taking people out. lol, the reality is we will both get killed by slimes or something.

For those of you who don't know, the hardcore server bans you for a month when you die, so killing someone will make them feel sad irl, Great!

Trouble with the hardcore server is that you're either:

• Miles from anywhere, watching wheat grow underground, with no other players for miles
  
• Getting your base griefed by a hacker with X-ray
  

Not much else seems to happen. When I've encountered other players it been pretty intense, but usually I just get killed very quickly.

yeh but if you build a base under the ocean id bet a lot that no one would ever find it. I've rejoined the server after a couple of weeks to find nothing has changed in the base. That server is really efficient at banning x-rayers too, they can trace the blocks a player broke to get to a base. Anyway, ill enjoy it, i didn't before because leveling and enchanting was a dick before the recent updates. Something really lame about players dominating because they've sat at a mob grinder the longest.

Hcsmp had a boot-up error this morning that deleted the whole map, so it looks like they are planning to start 'decembers' map early, apparently with a customised landscape generator. It usually takes them a few days to gen a new map, so it might be up with a fresh map next week.

I'm fine with how hcsmp is run. As long as you're not running around like a fool on the first day it's quote easy to get on top of things. Maybe we should choose arbitrary coords for a base?

yeh sure. Sucks that we have to find cows for the books now. :(. we'll need to base up near cows to get em breeding underground. Then i would suggest killing all the land cows around the area cos everyone will think of doing the same thing

Not sure, they are re-genning the map which usually takes a few days.

Just tried HungerGames, thats pretty funny - 100 people log on and then you all try to be the last one surviving.

You have to choose a 'kit' at the start which determines your initial equipement - I do Lumberjack

New sessions start every few minutes, it only lets you join at certain times, I havent figured out why, but its worth persevering

I didn't even realise that 1.4.2 was out! Sorry about that, I'll sort that now. Server should be upgraded within 10 minutes.

So how active is the server these days? Only asking as my student debt is starting to catch up on me now and I need to look at cutting back as much as possible... if the server isn't really being used I might downgrade (would like to keep the server still running at least, unless people wont be returning to Minecraft anytime soon and the server will just be completely dead).

I havent been on in a while. I'd probably go on a little bit if the map was refreshed but If I were you I'd stop it. See what everyone else says.
