Here's a new track called Staircase, taken from our upcoming 'From The Basement' session:

And no, you're not seeing double. The doppelganger drummers are myself and Clive Deamer. Clive has long been one of my favourite drummers and so I was really excited when he agreed to perform with us. Hope you like what we've all done.

Staircase is rather lovely. Ed looks very depressed in that video though and doesn't appear to have a lot to do.

i think the song is pretty good. i'm not in love with it but i have only listened a few times. i'm certainly looking forward to the from the basement thing and since there is an extra drummer on staircase, i'd bet on horns in bloom and codex and maybe even extra drumming on feral. should be cool. thom and ed need a haircut. :whistling:

They performed the whole of The King Of Limbs, playing each track until it was perfect. The usual five members of the band were joined by drummer Clive Dreamer (Portishead, Roni Size) for the session and boy did it add something. If that was not enough, a horn section was drafted in to play on a number of songs. To top it all off, the band decided to perform Supercollider (which until now was only available on 12 inch single) and two brand new tracks, ‘Daily Mail’ and ‘Staircase’.

i kind of agree. it's still good but the b-sides so far (butcher, supercollider, staircase) are a bit samey. Hopefully these will all be released together at some point when they are done with all the new songs after they trickle out. I am very disappointed how different supercollider/the butcher is mixed from tkol. i have the official mp3's from buying the newspaper album but they are so much lower than all of tkol.

oh man, really nice. now i really can't wait!!

the present tense is still lurking out there. what i would take from this is that staircase/daily mail is the next single or limb if you will. I'd put money on the present tense showing up by this fall.

Just now got my order, already reported it lost, so i'm debating whether i should let them know. well... i guess i don't really need 2 copies of it.

As a drummer, Phil Selway is painfully white. Extremely stiff sounding and un-dynamic, hardly ever giving the track the momentum it needs. I think he is the reason so many people find Radiohead boring. Not to be all negative, but he bugs me. I think he helped ruin In Rainbows and King of Limbs.

Maybe some music theory people can explain further.

I think he a pretty great drummer. just listen to airbag.

I hope so. Ringo Starr was somewhat limited in his abilities but nonetheless a fair few people liked The Beatles regardless.

The drums in Airbag were actually made that way by cutting up a short loop of Phil Drumming in Pro Tools.

And yes, regarding Ringo Starr, Meg White, etc sometimes simplicity is all a song needs if that's the aesthetic they're going for. I don't judge music by technical ability, because that would be boring. But in Radiohead's case, their music just keeps sounding more and more deliberately unsatisfying.

On a fairly annoying post by Thom Yorke on Dead Air Space about 'the reeeaaal glastonbury' he mentioned that there is a Lone remix of Feral presumably from this upcoming remix LP

Phil is an alright drummer, but I definitely feel he was shortchanged by the loops that are used on TKOL, definitely the weakness of the album IMO.
