Think I'm getting sick of my job as an outdoor equipment rental clerk on a military base. I've managed to hold on to it for almost eight years, but today was a shittier day than usual. I've just learned to tolerate it most of the time.

I feel like I'm due for a new job, but I doubt my chances of getting hired due to my lack of specialized skills, especially during a crap economic phase. I just feel like a zombie right now emotionally.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Just spent god knows how many hours trying to fix nasal/boxy frequencies on a vocal part to one of my songs, going so far as to automate individual frequency bands for different syllables... turns out the mild distortion effect I had on there was the root cause of most of it, and hours of bashing my head against the wall could have been avoided if i had tried removing that in the first place. *shoots self in the face* :ok:

We got audited recently. They'll find something to moan about no doubt, but apart from that life goes on.

I've been rolacating and documenting the locations of all our files. I'm up to almost 750, there's still loads left. :(

Bought a ticket for the event I'm going to tonight and now find out I've won guest list for 2. Everyone going already has a ticket.

That's not a problem, now you've got a seat to put your feet up on. If anyone questions you say that the other party will be right back, and show the inveterate complainer their ticket.

Okay, this ties in with my last post sort of.... I was just listening to music while intoxicated, and almost everything sounding like shit to me due to certain frequencies on vocal or other parts sounding wrong. The only thing that sounded the way it was supposed to to my ears was Yes - Fragile, prog rock album from the 70's. Stylistically some things on there may have sounded cheesy, but sonically other albums sounded ugly by comparison. I've had this problem before when listening to music while drunk. The dilemma here is that I don't know if my ears are just hearing the truth that I'm blind to while sober, or if my drunk ears are just elitist dicks. I'm hoping for the latter, but I fear the former. What if everything is just terrible? (except 70's Yes albums???) :wtf:

Wasn't that sort of event. Standing room only. Did manage to get a girl to buy me a couple of drinks in exchange for getting her in so it was ok in the end.

Apparently I embarrassed myself drunk a couple of days ago.

Not sure what I did, because can't remember anything.

Fuck alcohol.

Try listening to music stoned instead.

My experience around stoned people listening to music, is that they think everything sounds amazing without exception. I know I can't trust that. Also it makes a lot of musicians play everything slower (and slower and slooower...).

bought washing detergent for a top-loader. have front-loader. genious.

anyone know if top-loader detergent will fuck up a front-loader or something? tempted to use it anyway. why is there even a difference? there ought to just be one standard:

I dunno.. That just sounds like a general people problem. Weed doesn't really change tastes IMO.. I can see the slower tempo though

Top loader detergent in a front loader machine creates more foam because the front loader uses less water which can be trying from a foamy mess in the laundry perspective, so you need to bare that in mind when using it and so use less. I would recommend in future buying the correct stuff though.

It seems to change peoples' ability to be critical and hear things in context (ie. they may hear a hi hat opening and closing and get really excited about that one aspect of a track that they wouldn't care about otherwise). i have to deal with this all the time in the recording studio, or jamming with musicians. I'll often be the only sober one present, and believe me it's hard trying to steer the ship when everyone else is distracted by seagulls, or whatever better fits this analogy. The day after I'll show them what we accomplished and they'll be like "jesus, why did we do that weird thing with our voices" and I'll have to explain that I tried to dissuade them but they were convinced it was the best thing ever at the time. So yeah, weed just seems to make a lot of people think everything sounds amazing regardless of how goofy or banal it is.

Yeah, I guess. Maybe it doesn't apply to everyone though. Most of the stuff i've ever made that I was proud of was in the middle of a deep stone.

I have to give mushrooms credit though.. jamming with people deep into a trip gets crazy. Had some seriously special moments with people while playing music on mushrooms..

It does give people ideas they wouldn't necessarily have otherwise, so the occasional happy accident will come out of it. The challenge is separating the wheat from the chaff as the saying goes. If you get someone who consistently has good ideas, you're bound to get some good results coming out of it. But I think that's a pretty rare thing. Most people have to work at it, and it's hard to work at something while stoned (or so it seems from my outsider perspective). It helps with focusing on repetitive tasks though, so if the goal is to learn a part it's good for rehearsing.... remembering it later is of course another matter, but for muscle memory this is less of an issue.
