Can you do me a favor and do the aire test? Blow some air on your daughter's face, or maybe turn on a fan in the house, and see what your mother-in-law does. I'm pretty sure it's a universal thing.

Fred! has she brought over weird presents and cheesy baby clothing yet? my inlaws excel at bringing shit they find at yard sales that they look at and say "WTF is this?". And the clothes we normally throw out when they leave.

 

the baby clothing we haven't had issues with. lots of it but it's all decent. but the yard sale shit and all the trinkets! that's another thing. she buys so much crap from yard sales and dollar stores! and little trinkets for my wife. i have total creative control over the way the house looks. everything must be approved by me if it is to be displayed in our house, and i have no problems taking it immediately down into the basement if i don't like it.

 

i just now went into the kitchen to make a bagel, and there was a dirty diaper just balled up and casually hanging out on the countertop. throw that shit away man!

Same here. we have a box full of crap they gave my wife to display in the house... sometimes they ask where something is say the kids broke it or something.

so i keep a photo blog of my daughter for both our families. the other day, my aunt-in-law, whom i've sent the link to the blog at least twice, sends out a mass email to both sides of the family. apparently a close friend of the family had taken a picture from the blog and pasted in an email to my aunt-in-law. her mass email is like "thank you so much eva for capturing this moment!" and then my mother in law replies "Thank you Tia and Eva for sharing!!!" If you can check email, you can click a friggin link!!!

When Miles was born in Florida, she came to visit us. Apparently, her flight was delayed and didn't bother to call us. I went to the airport which was about a 30 mile drive, and looked at the schedules and I found out that way. at that moment my wife calls me upset because instead of her mom calling either me or my wife, she calls my sister in law instead and she relayed the message to us late.

I get pissed off when I think of my inlaws sometimes!

on the other hand, my wife gets pissed off by my dad and sisters ways as I do her entire family. it's pretty hard for me to hide my frustrations sometimes because my face is so animated when confronted with something that bugs me. hence her family don't like talking to me anymore... according to her.

earlier i was waiting for my mother in law to come down the stairs so that i could go upstairs to take a piss. it took her forever. finally she game downstairs and then i sprinted upstairs and tripped and fell up the stairs. just now, as if to make a point, she comes down the stairs holding my daughter, saying how "we have to be careful" and she took about 20 seconds per step while white-knuckle gripping the railing with her free hand.

my aunt in law offered to pay to put railing in the section of steps down to our basement (about three steps) that doesnt have railing. i told her no and that to be safe only i am allowed into our basement from now on.

how does your wife feel about the situation? i ask because i have less of an issue with my mother-in-law than my wife does. she has issues with how her mom handles situations. like if her mom is going to watch my son, my wife will explain the whole feeding situation as far as feeding, naps, etc and her mom will yes her to death and then do things her way...drives my wife fucking bonkers.
