Ate half a chanterelle and listened to the intro to grit in the pearl. I give this album a 2/10. very unimaginative, when will he release some groundbreaking amenry?

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Banjo really is an incredible track. Real love for Winter Linn and Silvered Iris too, but oh man if only they were at least a minute longer...

Also this is Beacon and Sodium Trimmers has a modified version of this.

It's streaming on Bleep for people like me who preordered (see previous page) :-D

As for me knowing these videos, well I've been to two of his Phosphor shows already. Will go a third time in a month :emotawesomepm9:

Oh damn, I didn't even notice that! I might check it out later then. ( I preordered it myself!)

cheers

Not gona be one of my favorites from him even after I let it sink in and grow but it's pretty good. It's got it's moments and I'm just taking it as a live jam club dance album. Simple, fun, fast...

I feel like Silvered Iris doesn't have the same buildup and hard hitting drums as the version from the gigs. Guess it's edited a bit differently.

Still not too fond of the light sorta flat drums and sounds but I guess that's what this album is about.

The stream thing form Bleep is a bit shit for me. It bugs out when I try to go from one track to another. Gets stuck on one track.

It doesn't sound like Iradelphic lol

The problem though is that you clearly hear this album has been made in 4 months, since you could also hear when Clark used to take years to make his previous LPs. A lot of the tracks here really could have benefit from some more development and maturation imo.

I've already mentioned the mixing being weird : Clark's previous stuff also used to be a bliss both for headphones and big sound systems. Here it seems to be meant to be played only for the latter, like really loud. I guess it fits the "post-rave" club theme but well...

Last disappointing thing is the absence of the track I mentioned in the posts above :----((( but don't worry Dorkington, Clark can't possibly make another album after this without it... c-can he ?

Yes you can hear the 4 months thing. A lot of the tracks feel like jams and have minimal transitions/parts.

Yeah the mixing's a bit odd. Not bad but not great either (at least on headphones).

Also the fact that that track isn't on there kills me. :c I was so fucking looking forward to it. I mean he's been playing the hook since 2010. But actually contrary to how most of this album was made it means it's being polished over time so it should be massive. I'll just hope it's on like a follow up ep if this album gets one. Or it'll be on the next album.

Favorite tracks: Everlane and There's A Distance In You

It's good.

Not great, but definitely good. Better than I was expecting. Unfurla is actually growing on me. Grit in the Pearl is still shite tho.

thanks for your work, seems pretty promising actually

on the other hand its weird all his talk about 4 months and jam sessions and seeing him rocking the tracks back in 2013 and not even chosing the most favored ones

anyway need to listen bad

I just read that The Pinning Part 1 he had 5 years prior to the release of Iradelphic and Henderson Wrench four years prior. So If the main hook made its debut in 2010 then I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that it's not on this album.

I think he just rose my expectations by playing it so often live... At least he didn't do that with the pinning pt1 and saved it for a fresh listening on the album.

I listened to the stream twice, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I went and re-listened to Body Riddle afterward, and it only seemed to confirm for me I don't care for this new direction.

It's "live" sounding, outdoors-y, but not adventurous. At least not like I've come to expect on a Clark album. On this one it's the subtleties that are interesting, because most of the song is just in your face (like the Unfurla preview).

I have to agree with this. There's not the detail of his other albums, instead it's all pretty straight forward.

After a third listen, I think the only tracks that stick with me are the final two, particularly Everlane (the most reflective song on the entire album, imo).

It'll be interesting to see how this album is received.

Everlane is my #1 favorite. It's really beautiful and sorta makes all the other tracks seem weaker.

I've always loved Clark's ambient pieces. This is another one to add to the list. I'd actually love a full ambient record from Clark but that's probably never going to happen.

The ambient pieces in this album are pretty cool. Ship Is Flooding kinda sounds like an OS startup music on Clark's customized laptop lol.

Same w/ Syro for me, I wonder who mastered this Clark album?

Dunno but it's like Clark has almost completely abandoned his distorsion. You can feel that in his recent remixes too, and even a bit on the Supercope 7". His mixing feels different. Does the computer make that ? Or whatever new piece of gear ? Or is it just the method he decided to change ?
