yeah hes putting his personal desires to end a chapter of his life, or some nonsense, above the entire community who still actively comes here and has for decades.  he can just hand it over to a top mod and be rid of it but apparently no it needs to be deleted?  kinda bullshit not gonna lie or mince words, and clearly not really forgivable, just kinda shitty and scumbag move

Man you really need to let go of your material attachment it's only going to cause you more suffering.

Yes it's a bit shit, but change also represents opportunity. As I said, we will be actively seeking input on how to implement the next iteration of the community, whether that's through tweaks like adding in an official discord (or similar) for livestreams, a wiki that draws on the encyclopedic knowledge of our members, or something else, this is an opportunity to shape the community in new ways.

I am really excited for this Chen. Looking forward to seeing how this may come together.

I'm willing to pay for membership at a new forum. Maybe this will be ok in the end, or even better than now. WATMM 2.0!

Same.  I think a lot of us are older now and have a bit of scratch on the side that can be put toward something like this.

Totally agree. That honestly felt like the beginning of the end as it was unfolding, at the time. When Troon first showed up, it was like when this girl that was totally bad news entered my ultra tight friend circle in high school and within a year everyone but me was on heroin.

well is joyrex going to archive at least the featured artist subs and ekt?

wget is blocked through whatever methods i tried

a simple html export of all posts should not take much space.

Has anyone considered sending handwritten letters through the mail?? I'm sure some of you troublemakers have awful penmanship.
I just miss an earlier pre-social media time.

Whatever the new iteration is, if anyone needs a cool logo/banner of a guy playing a keytar or a cat sitting on a modular synthesizer, I am happy to try whip something up.

We are discussing ways to at least archive the most important threads, but hopefully a lot more. 

Far more lurked than posted here. But done it for a longtime, more so than any other place. Learned a lot here from the members, hopefully shared some of the same to others. Had a couple friends and a couple enemies (arch nemeses, Limpy and Nebraska). Pissed off a few people, probably made some happy. All in all, just like real life, you live and learn. Sometimes you teach sometimes you get schooled. 

I'm on the same page with ChenGOD for the whole thing, I believe, if I've understood it correctly. All good things come to an end and it's better to let go when it's time and start something new.

@JoyrexThank you for everything you did over the years (both known and unknown, as I'm sure there's a lot which has been left unsaid or recorded).

Or would there be a way of exporting the forum db and migrating it to a new Invision forum instance? Like obviously all the mods are discussing all these possibilities. I just kinda want to know what's feasible. Also, I would suppose that doing a migration of the forum goes against the core reasoning behind Joyrex pulling the plug in the first place. It wouldn't be putting an end to WATMM, it would be just relocating it which, correct me if I'm wrong @Joyrex,  isn't the finality you want.

Also, I didn't really say it before in any of my posts but obviously thank you for keeping this place alive and facilitating such a community to grow @Joyrex. Thanks to all my fellow weirdos for continuing to post all these years and giving me countless hours of laughs, surreality and woeful takes (I'm sorry it's a bad show). This is actually the most I've ever posted and now I have a taste for it, I'm raging this place is shutting down, now even sooner than originally specified.

I've seen threads you people wouldn't believe. Autechre posts on fire off the shoulder of their subforum. I watched Dank Memes glitter in the dark near the General Banter Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

I do to, particularly searching for which dj mix of mine contains a particular track I'm looking for. I suppose I could have a better organisation method than a watmm thread but it's worked for years.

in terms of looking at the archives, as others have mentioned, there are times where I'm getting into an album that initially didn't click for me and I go back to look at the WATMM thread for its release.

A few months ago I was looking up artists that were mentioned in the "Forgotten IDM producers" thread.

There's also a lot of funny weird unique content that was made specifically for WATMM.
