My two cents on the discussion about a WATMM replacement, it's relatively easy to setup a new forum if you just know your way around the backend stuff, and it's not super expensive (although I don't know what's the server load in WATMM is). But administrating it for years is the problem. Definitely I would never had been able to run a forum for 25 years, lol. At best maybe a couple of years during the pandemic when I was mostly stuck at home.

my gut feeling is that it's statistically likely that *someone* here would find it achievable, maybe even trivial to set up an alt board

tag me if you think there's anything specific i can do. currently watmm notifs end up in my junk but i'll keep an eye out

fwiw i think it's much better if one of you lot does it than letting someone from the outside world do it, and you def don't want any of the artists directly involved because that would get weird fast

thanks for weighing in, it makes a difference. I think just chiming in is a contribution already cos it demonstrates it's not just the regular members who feel this way. it helps build critical mass for WATMM 2.0 whatever that may be.

it's clear we all want to keep the party going and there is a lot of goodwill/energy to back that up. I'm still holding out hope that we can find a best possible solution that preserves as much of the history as possible.

For people who might have missed this a few pages back, chengod and the other mods are actively planning running a replacement board, so thats really good because who better to take it forward than the mods? There's just some details to work out - what platform, is it possible to archive threads from watmm etc

Sean posting in this thread made my week and it's only Monday morning!

Has @Joyrex posted what the monthly expenses are? Do we have a sense of the price tag is here? Does the community have any idea which users would be fit to lead if a compromise was struck?
