"Spawn point obscured"

Lose all the sandstone I gathered (almost a full inventory of it) and spawn 2000 blocks away in coolville 1.

My latest project has taken me like a month to really get going and this is a big setback.

shitty deal dude. maybe give it a rest for a day or so.

I'm confused about the spawn point thing because I want to avoid it in the future.

Been there, done that. Once was transporting 5 or 6 diamonds and a bunch of other material - several day's labor - up from a cavern system, I was digging to the surface and just before I broke through a chunk of gravel fell on my head and smushed me. That was a several day rage quit.

Not to mention that due to my lag, I can't see creepers or ghasts until they've already killed me...skeletons and zombies are a huge crapshoot as well.

The rules I now go by are -

- travel light

- never transport all your loot at once, do a few trips instead

- always carry an empty chest and bed with you. That way it's easier to set a new spawn point, and if you start to die you may have time to throw down a chest and dump your stuff in.

regarding the spawn point thing:

- you may have picked up and replaced your bed since you last slept - this counts as a "reset". I sometimes do that - decide I want to move my bed a few tiles - then forget that I haven't slept in it since, and when I die, bam, back to coolville central

- a zombie may be in your bed

not sure of any other issues...?

That was it. I had moved the bed to a new dugout in the desert but hadn't used in it yet. =\

It's a crappy video but shows what it's about. I must also say it fascinated me, how just plain digging all time long was satisfactory as fuck. Maybe it was the thrills of finding stuff (ores, caverns even a dungeon), the wait for bedrock, the view that kept getting better... I can honestly recommend this to all true Minecraft diggers out there!

Oh yeah, I've been screengrabbing all the time from two locations, thus the stop-motion thingy. A bit dyslectic, but adds to the footage feel lol

it's really criminal how addicting this game is. I budget myself to a half hour to an hour each morning, when my connection is at its fastest. This morning all I did was carry glowstone from one location to another, but I enjoyed every second of it, lol

The strangest thing about the game is it doesn't encourage you to do anything in the buildings you've created. So you just move on and on, creating ghost towns...a bit eerie, really.

Might be nice if they came up with some sort of incentive to build more tightly packed urban areas. For example, they could add electricity, which would require a power grid and generators. They need more collective activities, like you pool your resources to build some complex generator, and when you have it, it unlocks further research trees, such as making elevators or something. I know he wants to keep the game more fantasy, but I really think he needs to add some sort of incentives for building a real city. Like maybe once you built a habitation that you want to be your primary residence, you can somehow mark it as your primary residence, and are able to do new things there. Dunno. I love the freedom of the game, but instead of spreading apart further I'd love to see Coolville 1 developed to be a megacity. Of course I'm as guilty as anyone of desiring to spread out and explore, too...

I agree with you and have thought about this as well. I think there needs to be some official mods that we can choose to enable or disable. Make everyone happy.

I hope so, because that's all I can get. I have to login a few times as well before I'm connected. I can't tell if it's my bad wifi connection or if minecraft.net is overloaded.
