they should also try to expand the vision so we can see farther .. maybe just make it blurrier or something lik what the current video games do

Sometimes I think it's kind of strange that such a simple game as minecraft eats so much CPU and RAM. I do not understand that.

 

well, it's rendering millions of removable cubes in realtime. quite a bit different from the prerendered stuff in most games.

Does java have anything to do with it? I dunno anything about programming but things that make me download java rarely seem to perform that well. Probably unfair to compare, but liero, 10-12 years ago, with all sorts of terrain damage, projectile physics etc ran really well.

Minecraft looks silly simple, but I think if it was released in 2000, the world would be 32 blocks high, because our comps couldn't handle it. Isn't it something with calculating what every cube does all the time you are in an area? Like in contemporary fancy 3d games it just shows you polygon landscape that the graphic card has made cute for you, but here everything has to be calculated all the time, because it all has the potential to change. I'm no programmer so laugh your asses off :pedobear:

Yea, that's how I feel. I'm tired of messing around with mods. I'd like to have a "Very Far" view distance option in game.

I suppose my computer wouldn't have an easy time running "very far" with a 512 limit though.

 

I don't know how Notch and company are ever going to be able to say, yes, this game is done enough to not be called "beta" let's release it. It can still go so many directions. DLC?

they need a bigger team working on it, they always have, but notch has this weird idea that HE HAS TO BE THE ONLY ONE WORKING ON IT cause hes the king.

after adventure update they'll iron some things out and that's the final version. no idea where you want the game to go from here, you've been playing it and loving it in this form. this is the game.

theres a lot to be desired with minecraft. i have always felt like its had tons of potential but the depth just isnt there. it seems like there should just be more to do. sure you can build a great many of things but you see basically everything the actual game has to offer after about a week of playing. there should be more materials to build with, that should be a main focus, and there should be more things to build that have an actual purpose, pistons is a good start.

I'd be interested in seeing a roadmap and finding out how far into the dev. certain ideas, like pistons, came about. The world doesn't feel cohesive to me. In comparison to most others it's hard to see if there's really a clear vision at the heart of it. It's an exquisite corpse of a game - and seemingly comprised of community ideas and notch's inspirations. Though, perhaps it'd be harsh and say there's a lack of imagination at Mojang. I'd hope for some serious refining, balancing and culling before they say done and start asking for €20 tribute.

 

The upcoming 'lose xp on death' feature sounds interesting. Notch mentions liking roguelikes. Not too optimistic about the ruins though. I'm imagining a slightly tarted up, expanded version of the mob box room dungeon. I do wonder how concious the lack of a world identity, lore etc was. I mean, it's fine, it could even work to the game's advantage if you could create your own gameplay with some DMing. Now I've reminded myself of DnD, part of me hopes for some dice rollin' chance to conceal the poor combat in the game.

 

All that said, boy oh boy, this tech demo is addictive.

I agree that this is the game. I think in its current state it has given me more replay value than any other game I've played, so...

 

I think as the game has grown it has lost some of its mystery (though that could also be me becoming more familiar with the game mechanics). I liked the mystery of the original, no object names, and weird exploits like water ladders that I always think add great value to a game, they are like easter eggs.

 

So I think the game needs to bring some of that mystery and easter-eggy quality back. Ruins are cool. And I think more creatures and chance encounters would be cool. More random events.

 

But to be honest, I think most of us have just played it too much. After a while the best and only pleasure of the game is to build in Multiplayer, where there's that social element.

 

I still think having cooperation be required to unlock certain crafting trees would be a brilliant idea.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

 

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

pistons were originally a fan-made mod.
