Well fuck, so now when there ARE snow biomes, we'll have to travel thousands of meters to get to them. This is sounding like coolville again.

Murve I found a nice HUGE diverse island that nobody has started on but me, and you'd have trouble finding me. Get to my place on the same island as you, make yourself a boat and set off straight from the dock. I'm currently building at 1000/1300, to give you an idea of the direction.

I'll check it out tonight. Been fucking with psx emulators all day and need to do my homework.

Yea thats the kinda mountain ranges I was finding too.

also I just discovered that if you die in lava all your xp orbs burn up and wont lag the server so if you've been alive for too long then go jump in a volcano. But like put your shit in a chest first of course.

Taking the long way around an island back to the current building site and I've spotted a village. I haven't destroyed it, despite everyone online suggesting it, in case anyone wants to check it out.

why are people saying to destroy them? i would imagine that would break the NPCs when they get patched in?

if you discover a village then it automatically won't have NPCs next patch cos the chunk is already generated, i'd imagine.

what kind of a horrible atrocity of an update would this be if we disabled ourselves from NPCs and snow biomes in the future updates just cuz we explored the servers... what a crock a shit

lol, I agree completely. Of course the rollout for 1.8 would be glitchy as fuck, and we'll find ourselves in the same situation as we did with CV1, only the super spread out map will mean the attrition rate will be faster (I give it a month before there are only 2-3 regular players). Tbh I'm surprised some of the old timers have taken to it with such gusto.

Also, just to make people dislike me more, some of you guys are pretty crap architects. What's the point of passionately rallying for a new map, if we're just going to make a bunch of half-finished cobblestone stairways to nowhere? I accepted this behavior when it was part of CV 1 (in fact I think even Pete went on an "abstract shit megaliths in the middle of the ocean" phase when he got bored with CV1 towards the end) because I figured there would always be a mix of good and bad. But now that people got their way to start a new map to have "more opportunity to start from scratch" and whatever other dubious reasoning they were using, I expect nothing but impressive and ambitious works. Put your money where your big mouths are (unless most of you are just day tripper looky-loos, as I suspect...)

I am completely baffled that people would push so hard for a new map, and then accept basically the first one that was thrown to them. I agree with Murveman, if you're gonna start from scratch, why not take the time to be more selective?

i'm nursing my butthurt, lol. But seriously I don't see a lot of longevity with this map. I also think it's funny that in the end, despite all the talk of starting fresh, we ended up going for an "every man is an island unto himself" map.
