Frying loafus with loafcore from loaf angeles. I wasn't as big on Cosmo Kramer as I was on LA/1983 however I'm still interesting to see what is up his sleeve next.

I am getting a sneaky feeling Mr Lotus is really, really, really overrated.

Dunno....I am just not convinced by it all. Watching him live is boring as fuck, no matter how you dress it up.

it's going to be though to come up with a better record than Cosmogramma, or at least to come up with a good follower for all his progress. but i trust FlyLo. The man knows what he is up to.

never saw him live, but the way i imagine FlyLo live is a totally diferent picture from the actual thing. it's not nearly as cosmic

Fixed.

That said, I think this album will silence haters. Cosmogramma is one of the best albums of the past several years.

I haven't been able to get into this guy. I did listen to cosmogramma for a bit, but it never really hit the spot.

I really wanted to enjoy it, as I heard many great things about it... maybe I wasn't in the right state of mind.

The new track also isn't doing much, for me... but I'll reserve judgement, till I hear the better quality audio.

Try 1983 or Reset.

There you go! :nyan:

1983 sounds great. Thanks for the suggestions... definitely a good starting point

Want to like new material but zzzZZZZZ....

I liked his earlier stuff but it's gradually getting more and more boring. I am sad about this.

Cosmogramma is one of the best albums on warp recs, just play this all summer and your eyes/ears will open

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

how can you possibly tell what his new material is like from that one youtube video?

This, Flying Lotus also has a lot of unreleased music so it's no telling if any of that is actually on his new album.

This. his old stuff is not nearly as bad compressed as the current releases

After seeing him live I haven't listened to him since, never been so bored.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

He was a let down a few months ago in London but I saw him a few years ago at Sonar and it was a pretty fucking good show. He's back at Sonar again this year. I'll make some effort not to miss that set (clash depending).

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:

Since when has any electronic music been outstanding live? Be honest, people. At least FlyLo is a crowd pleaser, a bit of a showman. He gives the audience their appreciation and wants to pump people up. Most of the time you just get stoic bearded dudes pressing play at the audience with a complete lack of enthusiasm. But FlyLo's music is bangin' and suited to a crowded atmosphere. He actually gets geeky white people dancing.

This is from seeing him in Boston last September. Maybe at other shows he did the stoic unenthusiastic thing? I doubt it. He wants everyone to have a good time.

No word of a lie it's the same for me. He was awful and I haven't played any of his music since, he just killed any interest I had in him whatsoever.

I have almost always came away from shows more inspired than ever, not with this dude. It was, I'm afraid, a joke.

why what does he do so bad in the live setting?

I was bought up on a diet of metal, punk, alternative etc. I guess when you see Butthole Surfers, Slayer, System of a Down, Pixies, Motorhead, Bad Religion (okay enough name dropping, and enough of the life stories) and then go watch a bloke dancing behind a computer it's very, very shit.

Aphex is fantastic live though. Maybe it's the aura, the mental off-the-wall tunes Aphex plays. And the visuals. All good.
