I think it's completely the opposite. Thom wants to stay relevant and keep up with what the kids are doing. If I'm remembering what I read about it correctly, Thom contacted Flying Lotus to collaborate not the other way around. Thom gets some cool points and Flying Lotus gets more exposure.

Well I think it made the track memorable, and it was just one track. Though I will say he's vocally more involved on the Modeselektor collaborations.

I think it's a little of both regarding Thom's involvement. IMHO his collaborations are quite sincere, he seems very select on working with people he very much enjoys as a listener himself. I agree he that Thom (probably) contacted Flylo first, as he did with MF Doom, Modeselektor, Four Tet, Burial, and probably even UNKLE back in 1998.

Also, dig the album cover, didn't expect it to look like that.

I'm not hating on Thom, I'm a fan. I guess my point was that their working together doesn't seem as calculated (to me) as StephenG's original comment suggested. I think they're probably both sincerely fans of one another. Although their song was probably my least favorite on Cosmogramma.

I like the guy because he is a musician-thinker and he is aware of the origins, of what there is in the music history. I feel this record will tell us whether he still has a lot to give or not...

When I look at the credits though, it has a lot of the same guests as cosmogramma. IE Thundercat, Laura Darlington, Thom Yorke, etc. So to me, that's a good sign that it will be in the same vein, because all those guests will contribute their unique style in the same/similar way as cosmogramma.

I noticed this too. It makes me think that FlyLo has found the artists with which he feels good playing and creating. This at least is a good sign...

Agreed. And I'd venture to guess that is the actual cover and not just the promo/advertisement. Warp has it that way on their site, there would be no need to have that text in the graphic when they have a headline on the page.

I'm not really sure what to make of the cover in general. Not a big fan but hey it's better than Animal Collective's new one. I guess it just feels too ethereal or something. It would go better with female singer's album.

But whatever, I'm still excited about the music.
