Yes I have the PEPS gun in my inventory, very awesome weapons. But I don't use it a whole lot, since it's not very stealthy.

Yeah I only got it to actually take people down once or twice. Fun to use, but either it's ineffective, or it's just meant to be like a flash grenade in gun form. Tranq rifle, stun gun, and patience far outmatched it. Stun gun was almost broken, it was so effective.

Huh. Yeah at that point all I had was a stun gun and tranq rifle, no way I'd have been able to do it. Good to know it's possible, though! It'll make for an even more interesting second playthrough,

I had fun using the CASIE social augment btw, had a 100% success rate with it (except on a few characters who are CASIE-hardened). It was really pleasing to be able to work out a character's psychology and use it against them. But yeah, there was a lot of info onscreen to take in.

How the hell does it even work? I couldn't figure it out at all, just had to guess my answers based on character reactions. Still ended up with Silver Tongue on all of them though :sup:

Mass Effect 2. I lost my old savegames when our Xbox got nicked, so I'm playing through the series again in preparation for ME3 next year.

Wow - I'd forgotten how good this was. I'm a Bioware fan of the old-school, and while it lacks some of the statistical depth of Baldur's Gate etc., this has to be the best thing Bioware have done in terms of writing, setting and characterisation. As CRPGs go, only Planescape surpasses it in that respect - and frankly, that could just be rose-tinted spectacles.

Can't wait for 3.

I saved her on Give Me Deus Ex difficulty with only a stun gun and traq rifle. You just have to strategically decide who to take out next. With a couple tries and a bit of luck I did it. It's much easier if you have your cloaking fully upgraded. And just toss a few EMP grenades under the box robot.

I trading in shit for this tomorrow

Child of Eden - Awesome looking HD update of Rez let down by a horrendous Japanese trance soundtrack.

Infamous - finally got round to this, plays very well like a GTA with super powers

Assassin's Creed 2 - the worst over complex control system I've ever had the misfortune to play, don't believe the hype

well, it definitely has strange controls, but they can be learned, what platform are you playing on. Overall ass creed 2 is one of my favorite all time games.

yeah, assessing the strength of each possible answer in light of what your target is talking about is the key in any conversation. that's how the "persuasion system" works.

afaik there are two strategies when using CASIE: 1. using the character assessment info it presents on the right to determine how to respond (e.g. character is described as being unused to criticism, therefore criticise their line of reasoning repeatedly to apply pressure), or 2. prolong the discussion as long as possible while paying attention to the alpha/omega/beta type indicator on the left, then when the pheromones are available choose the type-appropriate one.

Haha yeah I forgot about the multiquote button and got confused copy/pasting quote tags, so I quit trying.

So basically, Casie is entirely useless, but kinda interesting?

PS3?

I had just finished Uncharted before I started Ass Crack 2 so I'll still be used to that however the controls for jumping up buildings I found very awkward to the point of frustration.

while you're on that tip check out Maximum Carnage and Streets of Rage 2. I remember having a conversation itt about this with someone, may well have been you.

I don't think it was me you had the conversation with but yeah there are tons of good games from that era. I've only played Streets of Rage at a friends house back in the day, definitely need to check it out again.

Emulators are fucking amazing. Nostalgia overload.

I'm still plugging away at Darksiders, admittedly I've only had about 4 nights where I was able to sit down to actually play it. I'm done with the 4th Chosen (spider boss - what a punk), and am now slowly working my way through the Black Throne.

Extremely Minor Spoiler

There is too much stuff to do in this game if you just want to complete it fast, like me. There is definitely some bang for your buck in this if you are a Zelda/God of War fan. I spent all yesterday just getting abyssal armor pieces and legendary weapon upgrades so that hopefully the last two(?) bosses I have to fight will be a bit easier. The bosses in these games can be quite a challenge, even with like 20 health bars and full life potions.

That being said, its easily the most "bad-ass" looking game I've played. Everything from War's weapons, to wings, to enemies, to cutscenes all look incredible! When I finally got Ruin, I was like "oh hellz yes!" riding on a flaming horse shooting a gun at a Sarlacc at 100 MPH.

the portal gun is the only thing i didn't like about the game. the level w/ it is pretty fun tho. and yes, the art direction and graphics are killer.

Got back into Left 4 Dead on the 360 last night. Great fun. If anyone wants to play some Survival Mode then send me a PM

Finally got round to buying Limbo for the PS3 yesterday and beat it this evening. Man that was just pure concentrated fun with an atmosphere so thick it could burst through even the strongest kaen-proof dry walls. Can't wait to play it again to find all the hidden egg things.

Plus the ethereal ending sent shivers down my spine. No game has done that for a long-long time.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I remember when I first started freerunning I could not get used to the controls, they were much different from uncharted 2 (i noticed the same thing). Just remember, if you are holding X while running, ezio will jump as soon as you get to an edge, even if it is not safe. After a while the controls will start to feel very smooth and you will be able to plan out routes and execute them with ease. Same thing with assasinations and combat, very strange controls but they become better/easier as you start playing more. The game is full of so much great story and immensity and detail that it would be a shame to miss out on just because the controls are very non-standard. Trust me, it is a great game, just try to get a little bit further and I think you will like it. I would compare it to infamous in that regard. Infamous starts off very boring and limited in scope and opens up and gets better and better, AC2 is the same way. How far have you gotten? There are also controls and abilities that they do not teach you at first that makes the game a lot better later on.

I just got to the end of chapter 4-3 in resident evil 4. Right after you kill the 2 giants in that lava room.(I was soooo low on ammo for the fight), almost ran out. This game is great, i'm having trouble remembering just when I left off the first time I played it on ps2. Somewhere in the castle I think, but the 2 giants fight felt really familiar. It feels like a long game, much different than the first 3 games, but still has that same kind of weird atmosphere, especially in the castle. Reminds me of the first game in the mansion.

league of legends

Beware, Kaen - this game and it's predecessor, Demon's Souls, are so punishingly difficult, it can easily frustrate you to the point of throwing the controller. There is nothing extraordinary about these games - the only thing you get out of it is the reward for keeping your sanity (if you end up doing so). That being said, they're great games!

Not true, atmosphere is unique, level design is stunning, graphics are realistic, sound design and score is amazing ( i actually bought the orchestral sound track), challenging boss fights, unique multiplayer capabilities, in game holidays/events (shifting towards light and dark tendencies), interesting crafting system (that is basically essential), vast lore subtly given though text, multiple endings, multiple NG+'s, permanent in game statues of the highest rated players, permanent consequences (npc deaths from quest lines etc), vast arrays of weaponry with various stat requirements, hardcore pvp...

Also I firmly believe the difficulty is relative to how patient you are. Slow and steady is the pace of this game. I can't beat Ninja Gaiden 2, but Demon's Souls is always fair. You only die cuz you decided to run through some hallway and didn't notice the demon's hiding behind the pillars. Every enemy has a pattern and a weakness, including bosses.

dark souls isn't a ps3 exclusive.

but as joyrex and acid have said, demon's souls is. They are extending keeping the servers up at least throughout 2012. The online features are nice.
